I was allergic to penicillin as a kid

20 years ago I asked a friend of mine "the dentist" if he could prescribe an antibiotic for me.

I had no idea, but he prescribed penicillin.  I took the whole bottle w/o an issue.  Was told my my medical doc that many folks grow out of that.
Apparently I did.  Good to know, but it could have been the other way
I think it might actually be that after a single reaction while on penicillin, it's assumed that the allergy exists. But in most cases the reaction is misdiagnosed as a real allergy.

My daughter had a reaction last fall. Broke out in a terrible rash all over her body. At urgent care the doc said that >90% of cases where this happens, there's no underlying allergy.

He actually said the same thing happened to his son, and one night years ago when he was working in the ER (and his son often hung out doing homework) that they weren't busy, he administered his son the penicillin to test--with all the necessary safety precautions to handle a reaction, of course, being a doctor in an ER. His son showed no reaction whatsoever.

For now, we're assuming that my daughter has an allergy. But sometime between now and her reaching 18, I'd plan to take her to allergist to be tested for a real allergy, so that we'll know.

Not any TP in Arizona...because we don't have trees, obviously.
You guys hoard the TP in non-apocolyptic times, it sounds like.  Damn, I get the 4-roll pack whenever.  I can't fathom having a weekly trip to Sams or Costco....you guys really were keeping the economy afloat.

The main thing needed in papermaking is water.  A lot of the pulp comes from Canada or Brazil for making toilet paper anyway.  But you need water (unless you airlay it which is too expensive).  Papermachines are fascinating beasts, often over 300 feet in length and 20-30 feet wide or more running around 50 mph.

There is plenty of water in AZ, and trees too. Just not in the desert, where people shouldn't live anyway.

One of my wife's greatest fears is running out of toiler paper. When we met, she had 2-24 mega roll pack and a partial for just herself with a standing monthly order from Amazon.

Well, I got her down to only having 1-24 mega roll pack plus a partial for the two of us with her still in a panic when we broken into the pack if a new one hadn't arrived yet. Needless to say when this all hit, she immediately reinitiated her standing order, we once again have 2-24 mega roll packs and a partial.

I made a quick run to Walmart this AM for some items, early so they'd be uncrowded.  They had a lady by the carts wiping them all down.

They appeared to be fully stocked with everything, even grated cheese.  The wife likes these little bottles of liquid yogurt and they are $4.19 there versus $5.69 at Kroger.

I went to Walmart yesterday, and still no TP.  I did grab 2 rolls of paper towels, I didn't have any.
No line for TP, either, so maybe that's progress?
It's funny to see the items that still go unbought, despite people going a little nutty.

Does the TP situation increase or decrease the odds of someone getting their house toilet papered by a group of neighborhood kids? On one hand folks are behaving as though they "can't spare a square" but on the other hand 1,000 rolls of TP stashed away in the basement would be a temptation that very few 7th grade boys would have the willpower to resist.
