My brother went to the store yesterday - his weekly trip. TP was just about fully stocked. The hoarders are done, or they ran out of storage.

Talked to my buddy in Florida this morning. What a shit show.

Older people are hoarders, apparently. He told me he would love for me to ship him some as he is down to 2 rolls, but he'd be afraid that the USPS/UPS/FedEx driver would "lose" the package. He's going over to the yacht club (which is closed to the general public but not to members - 6 at a time allowed) today to see if he can "borrow" some.

Send him some in a box with the  biohazard logo on it and write "COVID19 Testing Samples" on the outside.  That might convince the local drivers not to mess with it. :)

(yeah yeah I know it would never make it that far)

If you're running low on TP, and in the Vegas area, go to the public restrooms in the Venetian.  To this day, the only public TP that isn't half-ply.

Our office buildings do 2-ply, and it's pretty soft too.  Not Charmin or anything, but way better than most.

You can use facial tissue, it has a similar composition, but the wet strength doesn't decay, so you shouldn't flush it.
Just what on earth are we to do with this magnificent bit of info - dig a whole behind the garage?

Well, worst case, put it in a zip lock bag and put in garbage, like folks do with dog poo.

Yeah, the MWRDGC came out and asked the public to not flush things that are not toilet paper. They were seeing paper towel, Kleenex, t-shirts and other "stuff" coming into their treatment plants. Not good.

It's a toilet, not a garbage can.

Don't Flush It!

 The recent Coronavirus and COVID-19 health issue has created a temporary shortage of toilet paper.  If shortages continue, people may attempt to use alternative products.  Residents and businesses need to recognize what not to flush in toilets.  Do NOT flush any of the following:

  • Baby or toilet wipes (flushable wipes may be used, but in minimum quantity and flushed one at a time), towelettes, disinfecting wipes, cloth wipes, paper towels, napkins, or Kleenex;
  • Diapers;
  • Paper products or cotton swabs;
  • Feminine hygiene products or other personal care items;
  • Rags or mop heads; and
  • Medications.

If you use any of the above listed items, please dispose of them properly and NOT in the toilet.  For any questions or concerns, please contact the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.

If I run out of TP might take the plunger route

If you have a septic tank, you should be more careful about what is flushed.  Facial tissue will eventually degrade at least.
