* Nebraska senior-to-be JD Spielman, easily the team's leading receiver in 2019, hasn't been involved in those optional workouts and his status for the 2020 season remains uncertain. He has been away from the team since early March because of a personal health matter.

"We continue to hope the best for him," Frost said. "We're anxious to have resolution on everything."
Might Spielman be on hand Monday, or sometime soon?

"I'd say it's unclear," Frost said.

don't think so, but it's possible, it was first reported that he had left the team around March 2nd

start of spring practice, not sure when he left Lincoln

So, he's in the portal. Did he stay eligible with school and such?

What really happened here?

lot's of rumors....  didn't like the spotlight was taken away form him...  didn't like the WR coach (who is no longer there)....  Frost and his staff have a 'you are with us or you are not' mentality...

Any idea where he's looking? If he has not graduated, he needs to get a waiver for something, or he's done playing football. Is this the case?

he'd have to sit this fall... unless there is some type of hardship and he has an exception.   At least that is how I understand it.

and over the next couple days you'll see a lot more "he was bad in the locker room"... "UNL has a juco wr coming in that scared him away" or... "he wasn't that good"...

He was the most complete WR on the team.   He's a loss.  A big loss.  Not unexpected either, but there was still hope.

UNL has had 14 transfers this year.   Seems like a bunch.

A Purdue site previews the Huskers and sees a narrow Nebraska win in the season opener.

For a team that's coming in young for seemingly the 10th season in a row, I hate that Purdue opens with a conference game. Not that 2019 was great, losing a non-con game to a terrible Nevada team, but it really seems like the sort of year where having a few pastries lined up before hitting conference play would help.

Because we've got a completely unproven OL (again, for seemingly the 10th season in a row), and because we've got a three-headed QB race coming into the season, I just don't like Purdue's odds in this one. Maybe in the 5th game of the season, but not in the opener.

Every time I read "pastries" here I think it says "pasties."
