Could I cut in with an important (to me) question - needing Husker fans expertise?

Would you classify the 2012 Huskers as an option team?  Pelini as HC, Taylor Martinez at QB gaining 1000 yds, along with Abdullah as well.  Kenny Bell leading WR.
.
What I need to know is were they a running team that ran the option sometimes or were they an option team?  When you picture that offense, was the play they ran most often an option run?
.
Thanks.
.
Im leaning towards NO.  TM often ran the QB draw and scrambled a lot, a la Vince Young.
Not that you need more, but they were a run-heavy spread with some I-form as a change up, at least with Martinez.

He went 31-14 as a starter which is both a lot of wins and a silly number of starts.

NU announced a home-and-home with the Oklahoma State Cowboys set to be played in Lincoln on Sept. 16, 2034, and then in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the following year, more than 15 years from now.

In addition, NU also announced it is moving a game against South Dakota State originally set for Aug. 31, 2024, to Sept. 7, 2030. In that game's place, the Huskers will open the 2024 season at home against UTEP. The Huskers will also open the 2028 season against UTEP on Sept. 2.

That fills the 2028 nonconference slate, as NU will face UTEP, SDSU and Arizona, all at home.

The Huskers also rounded out 2025 and 2026 by adding Louisiana-Monroe (Oct. 18, 2025) and Ohio The Fighting Frankies (Sept. 5, 2026).

Guarantee payments for the announced games include $1.775 million (2028) and $1.6 million (2024) to UTEP, $1.65 million to ULM in 2025 and $1 million to Ohio in 2026.

Nebraska now only has two non conference openings remaining through the 2028 season, one each in 2024 and 2027. Big Ten schedules have been publicly announced through the 2025 season.

The Huskers open three of the next four seasons with conference games: Purdue at home this fall, Illinois in Dublin, Ireland, in 2021 and at Minnesota in 2023.

Beyond that, the Huskers have a home-and-home with Oklahoma in 2029 (away) and 2030 (home), host SDSU in 2030 and visit Arizona in 2031.

Khalil Davis turns heads at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.75-second time in the 40-yard dash, third-fastest since 2003 for any participant over 300 pounds.

This concerns me greatly, 3 D-linemen that seem likely to have the physical talent to play in the NFL and the run defense and the pass pressure SUCKED last season.

Senior receiver JD Spielman is away from the football team temporarily and at home with family in Minnesota. Spielman is unlikely to take part in spring football," Nebraska announced Monday morning.

“JD Spielman is dealing with a personal health matter currently, and at this time is not expected to participate in spring practices,” Nebraska Head Coach Scott Frost said in a statement. “Everyone’s focus right now is on JD’s well-being and providing him with the appropriate support. We anticipate JD returning to the team in time for summer conditioning.”

Nebraska does not expect Spielman’s eligibility to be affected by this temporary absence.

Nebraska also announced that scholarship wide receiver Jaevon McQuitty has retired from football and will pursue a medical scholarship exemption. Nebraska begins spring practices on March 9, and with the news about Spielman and McQuitty, will begin spring practices with just four scholarship wide receivers on its roster.

I'll be shocked if we see Spielman back in Lincoln.   He's probably waiting on the April transfer ruling and will be in Minn next year.

How will he accomplish 30 credit hours if he is away in Minnesota? I don't see how he could possibly stay eligible.

He's going to the Goophs anyway...
