Why was Simpson driving the AD's car?
Sounds like an "improper benefit" to me...

While King didn’t believe Helland was being malicious in his use of the racial epithet, he said he raised the issue so UW could help its staff members be more informed on controversial societal issues. However, King said he didn’t refer to Helland specifically at that time.

“To be honest, I didn’t want it to go public,” King said. “I like Coach E, he’s been good to me, I just thought it was concerning. It was awkward for me for a few days, it was uncomfortable to me.”

If one wanted to be charitable, he didn't understand the mechanisms of all this. I.e., a chat with some administrators doesn't "feel" public. In fact, it's supposed to be private to a large degree.

Or he was gunning for that sweet, sweet waiver.

This.

He made no mention of any of this crap when he quit on his team and gave the first interview. Only well after did he bring up the racial stuff.

I'm not buying it. The B1G propaganda machine is in full swing.

Those are just numbers.  In the history of KenPom, no conference has ever been this good.  Our 12th place team handed #1 their only loss.

We will see come March, but I am with ELA and the numbers and nearly everybody else.

Look at it this way:
Purdue, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio State, and Michigan are all .500 or below in our league and those teams have some impressive OOC wins.  If that is the middle-to-bottom of our conference, the conference is REALLY good.

This weekend (Fri-Sun) each B1G team plays exactly one game.  Here are the games with their impact on the tiers:

  • Maryland at Illinois+3 Friday at 8pm on FS1:  We project an Illinois win.  If Maryland wins it would only move them to +1 and Illinois to +2 so no changes.
  • Michigan State-2 at Michigan-3 Saturday at noon on FOX:  We project an MSU win.  If Michigan wins it would probably necessitate moving MSU down to tier-2.
  • Purdue-2 at Indiana+1 Saturday at 2pm on ESPN:  We project an Indiana win.  If Purdue wins it would move them to -1 and Indiana to even so no changes.
  • Minnesota+1 at Penn State+1(+2,-1) Saturday at 4pm on BTN:  We project a PSU win.  If Minnesota wins we might need to consider moving them up to tier-2.
  • Nebraska+2 at Iowa-1 Saturday at 6pm on BTN:  We project an Iowa win.  If Nebraska wins we probably wouldn't change anything but it would move them to +3 and IA to -2.
  • Ohio State-1(-2,+1) at Wisconsin+1(+2,-1) Sunday at 1pm on CBS:  We project a Wisconsin win.  If Ohio State wins it would just offset Wisconsin's earlier win in Columbus and move both teams back to even.
  • Northwestern at Rutgers Sunday at 6:30pm on BTN:  We project a Rutgers win.  If Northwestern wins it would just move them to +1 and RU to -1 so no changes.

Another way of looking at this is what does the unexpected result do to our projections:

  • UMD @ IL:  If UMD wins their projection goes up to 16-4, a more secure first place.  IL's projection would go down to 13-7 and into a three-way tie for 2nd/3rd/4th with MSU and PSU.
  • MSU @ M:  If M wins their projection goes up to 9-11, closer to the five-way tie for 7th-11th.  MSU's projection would go down to 12-8 and into a tie with UW for 4th/5th.
  • PU @ IU:  If PU wins their projection goes up to 11-9 and tied with IA for 6th/7th.  IU's projection would drop to 9-11 and 11th place alone.
  • MN @ PSU:  If MN wins their projection goes up to 11-9 and tied with IA for 6th/7th.  MN's projection would drop to 9-11 and 11th place alone.
  • UNL @ IA:  If UNL wins their projection goes up to 4-16 but still 13th place alone.  IA's projection would drop to 10-10 and into a six-way tie with PU, IU, RU, MN, and tOSU for 6th/7th/8th/9th/10th/11th.
  • tOSU @ UW:  If tOSU wins their projection improves to 11-9 while UW's declines to 11-9 and both teams join IA in a projected three-way tie for 6th/7th/8th.
  • NU @ RU:  If NU wins their projection improves to 2-18 but still alone in last place.  RU's projection would drop to 9-11 and alone in 11th place.

Can't shoot 50% from the line and have a stretch of roughly 8 minutes without a basket in 2nd half and expect to beat a top 10 team.  The Illini need to be a lot better on Tuesday.
