Alabama has ruined college football
« on: January 01, 2021, 07:46:46 PM »

The monotony of their success is just overbearing.

It seems like they have been the best team in college football FOREVER.  How long before this comes to an end?  How bout just a regular ol’ 8-win season, just for a change?

My interest in CFB is incumbent upon the Vols, for the most part.  When we suck (provide your own punchline), my interest in it wanes.

But still, it’s strange:  Bama and ND — the two marquee programs in the long history of the game — playing in the Rose Bowl, the granddaddy of them all —

And I really couldn’t care less.

It is indicative that the “Rose Bowl” wasn’t even played in the Rose Bowl —

and it was evident that The Irish didn’t belong on the same field with Bama.

Same ol’, same ol’…

Hopefully, my new local team can take care of business against them Yankees.

And put a beatdown on The Tide.

At least they wear orange…

I didn’t even realized they played until I read this post.  Game was already over and saw that Bama won. Then I thought will I watch Clemson and Ohio State?  Answer is no. Who cares. I am just waiting on our next basketball game.  In The meantime I will find something else to watch instead of football.

Pencil in Bama, Clemson, and Ohio St for next year’s playoffs as well.

4th spot, beatdown candidates:

Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Notre Dame

Where have I seen this movie before?

But Lawrence, who grew up a Vol fan,was not good enough to play D1 football per someone I won't name. Lots of instate talent on that team that could of been in a different shade of Orange. Sad.
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

Wow.
Things in California have gotten so bad that even the Rose Bowl has left the state.

Maybe add Oregon to that list but it really does make college football pointless when you know 3 of the 4 teams that will be there before the first ball is ever kicked.

Since the inception of the CFP there have been 28 participants and only 11 different programs have filled those 28 spots with only 6 of those 11 actually winning a game.

Until there is somehow/someway a way to equally disperse the talent things will never change

The officials are gift wrapping the game for tOSU... from blatant holding no calls to calling fumbles that were obviously recovered by Lawrence for the D...

The theft for tOSU is as blatant as it was for Clemson last year.

I have lost much interest in CFB as well. I’m sure much due to TN being bad for a long time. The Saban Effect is another.

However, I think the rule changes have been the biggest factor. You can no longer touch the qb and if you tackle hard it can be called targeting. Targeting calls are so arbitrary; saw a Clemson player get thrown out tonight for an excellent tackle to the body. The OL can typically hold at will. Why not eliminate the punt altogether and just play flag football?

There is no reason we couldn’t be Clemson.  Same area — Foothills of the Appalachians.  Same fan demographic.  We have more, deeper tradition.  Bigger stadium.  More rabid fan base (imho).

What they have that we don’t is a character coach who is intelligent, speaks well, and Mommas tell their boys “you gon’ go play for Mist’ Dabo.”

The fact that they’re where they are — despited how it goes for them tonight, don’t look good, but they have a bunch of coaches and (I think) some players that didn’t make the trip, in this weird year —

and we’re where we are, speaks to almost criminal mismanagement, misjudgment, and malpractice among those in charge.

I don’t know anything about what Clemson does right, other than their results —

and only slightly more about what we do wrong.

One caveat — I suspect that they would be a consistent 1 to 3 loss team in the SEC.

I’d take that.  Wouldn’t you?

Holding is apparently the new blocking.

Alabama has 6 first team All Americans this year plus 2 Heisman finalist.
I doubt any other team has had 6 first team All Americans total in the last 10 years.

herb and crew are so blatantly tOSU biased it's comical... the 'interception' just happened in the end zone... earlier THIS season i heard the same crew argue "all that matters is there was possession in the EZ, no matter how brief"...

it's a micro view of the way the media operates in this nation... i KNOW what i just saw, but i'm to accept what YOU saw and what 'officials' called.

and i call bull shit.

Not going to argue the calls because they were reviewed especially the fumble...holding yep we did and so did they but if you really want to know the details:

Ohio State 639 total yards..we held them to 44 yards rushing..and had them beat by almost 10 minutes in TOP...we also had 385 passing yards and 254 rushing yards. I wouldn't call it theft but I would call it dominating.
