At this level, all of these teams REALLY good and these matches are addictive.

Well we got the final 4 I was hoping for, and pretty much expecting.  Not going out on a limb, of course, these were the top 4 in the world in the FIFA rankings before the World Cup Finals tournament began.

HA!!! so it's just not me - same thing with WWII history comment sections on youtube. I call these carnival barkers (prolly the same guys) Youtube Tommies. Act like Montgomery and his minions saved the USA's arse. And how Montgomery's absolute debacle of market garden was actually failure on two US Airborne divisions part that were sent by IKE by british request. When Monty himself never was at the battle and even fessed up fault - after the War when he couldn't get called on the carpet. Bunch of revisionist Redcoats they are
Now all of these people that assured me that folks in the USA are just completely soccer-ignorant and we should leave the futbol talk to the futbol nations, and that they always know the rules which are absolute and inviolate, are arguing amongst themselves along strictly nationalist lines, about whether or not a ball touched an overhead cable and whether or not if it did, that affected the outcome of the play and ultimately the game, between England and Norway.  Turns out it's always a factor if it would help your team, and it's never a factor if it helps the other team.  And none of it has anything to do with whether or not the USA was involved in the game.

I actually support 64 teams. For one, I don't watch or care about qualifiers at all, so it's not like I am missing out on high drama games before the World Cup. For two, it would bring more drama back to the group stage. The group stage was fun this year but confusing on who would make it and what the games would mean.

Yeah honestly I don't disagree with this take. I really enjoyed this year's expansion to 48 and I don't think 64 would break the whole thing.

I actually enjoy watching the qualifiers.  But 32 to 48 sort of already made those blah anyway, so I don't care too much about watering them down even more.

I would prefer going back to 32, or even 24, and doing away with the continental qualifying format, and doing maybe annual summer staggered qualifying tournaments that were larger events.  The whole thing could be the World Cup, with every 4 years just being the World Cup final tournament

Well that's exactly what it is now, it's just that the qualifiers are intra-federation and not inter-federation.

And honestly I'm not sure the EPL and other professional leagues would be interested in taking longer international breaks than they already do, if you turned the qualifiers into inter-continental events.

And if the pro leagues and pro teams don't release their best players, then all qualifiers would be more like C-squads.  Which I don't think would be all that fun to watch regardless.
