I recall an SEC basketball tournament in a dome in Atlanta that was 'delayed' and then some by a rather severe storm.

Sure.  If the teams and officials and camera crews aren't there, they'll delay it.

All of those folks other than the teams are almost certainly there already.

Regardless, the idea that the game will be delayed or postponed due to inclement weather, in the same way an outdoor game would be, is what they are proposing.  And it's just not going to happen.  They're simply unaccustomed to these enormous domed stadiums that we have here in the US.

IIRC it was a power outage.  But I think it was in Nashville.

Hmm well now I just read an article that mentioned FIFA could be following a protocol regarding lightning strikes in the area regardless of indoor/outdoor.  So there you have it.  The Euros' fears are founded.

Storm that damaged Georgia Dome, Atlanta was a tornado - ESPN

It was a tornado, in Atlanta, and did a fair bit of damage.

SEC Storied: Miracle 3 - Southeastern Conference

On March 14, 2008, Alabama found itself trailing Mississippi State 59-56 in the final seconds of the first quarterfinal game of the evening session. Crimson Tide guard Mykal Riley sank a desperation three-pointer as time expired, sending the game into overtime. That shot not only extended Alabama's season for the moment, but it may have prevented thousands of fans from pouring into the city streets just as a tornado touched down outside the Georgia Dome a few minutes later.

Though no one in the Georgia Dome was injured, the building felt the effects of the twister. Enough damage was done to the Georgia Dome to not only delay the completion of the Alabama-Mississippi State game and eventually cause a postponement of the last quarterfinal game of the day, but also to force SEC officials to find a new home to finish the tournament on schedule. Ultimately the University of Georgia Bulldogs, who finished last in the regular season, managed to win three games in a 30-hour period to earn the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament berth.

I stand corrected.  I don't remember the basketball tourney being in the Georgia Dome.

There were some weather fears a few years back in Nashville, I guess that's what is in my noggin.

Much like world history started in 1776, to Aggies, SEC sports began in 2012

Wait, you mean you thought one thing, then learned new information, then changed your mind, instead of digging your heels in and explaining all the ways you were right anyway, or how stupid or corrupt things are?

How novel.  I don't even know what to call that phenomenon.

Well I can still think it's silly, but yeah, I can admit I was wrong and modify my perceptions.  It happens so rarely that I almost don't recall the words, but even a broken squirrel finds a nut twice a day.  Or something.
