You are not supposed to marry the ones that you meet at bars.
I know a super stable couple who met in HS and didn't know each other all that well. They ran into each other in the street going from bar to bar one madison night. Went together to the next bar. Went home together. Now two kids, happy seeming situation.

Granted, they were both college kids at the time.

People have survived games of Russian Roulette too.

Doesn't make it a good idea.

Well, if you meet them at a bar and marry them a week later I’d get the Russian Roulette comparison. Of course, I would make that same comparison if you met someone at church and married them a week later.

If you meet someone at a bar, date them, get to know them, meet their family, learn about their past, etc. then I don’t consider that Russian Roulette.

Sounds like you met yours at a bar, lol. Glad it worked, not saying it is always trouble. Just not the best strategy imo.

As for Church, I think that there main selling point these days is not so much the theology, as that it is a good place to meet a woman that will have a punchers chance of being a sound wife and mother; rather than some barfly puking on her shoes, or worse yet, that crazy feminist that you dated like an idiot while you were at the University.

I met my i s c & a aggie wife in 11th grade American Literature class.  We were friends in high school but we never dated.

Ran into her again a couple years after college graduation-- at a bar-- and we've been together ever since.    July 14th will mark our 20-year anniversary.
