We did have one lunch at a place in NO I found when my wife's artist friend was elsewhere that was pretty good, but it wasn't any better than 50 places near me here.

We really spent little time in Austin, I dimly recall having good food the previous time I was there for a game, but I was "in good hands".  I liked Austin just fine, would go back.  New Orleans, I would not return for anything less than some unrealistic payment.  I really did not like NO at all.

We had a decent dinner in San Antonio somewhere near Riverwalk (which overall I thought was ... touristy, duh).

Cities where I have stumbled across really good food include Boston, SF, LA, Seattle, Louisville, Cincy of course, NYC, DC ...  I give bonus points for food that is unusual, to me, interesting, as well as really good.  We like a couple places on Hilton Head a lot, Savannah has some spots but is getting touristy.

A few times in the middle of nowhere we've stopped and had great good.  Recently in Clarksville, GA we had a very good Cuban lunch.  Mine was excellent, unusual to me, really interesting flavors, for not much $$$.  Clarksville, GA, near my birthplace.

One again, Cincy and I find common ground.

It's becoming a regular thing.

If a nuke is ever dropped on the USA, my vote goes to Vegas.

You're about 70 years too late on that one.

During the 1950s and early 1960s, Las Vegas embraced the nickname "Atomic City" by capitalizing on its proximity to the Nevada Test Site, 65 miles away, where the U.S. government conducted nuclear tests. Casinos hosted "dawn parties" and "atomic cocktails" to watch mushroom clouds from rooftops, turning atmospheric tests into a unique, popular tourist attraction.

The only major food I really dislike is liver, liver anything.  I've even had seiche, which I found ... sort of interesting, I wouldn't order it again.  I like oysters, escargot, my wife likes caviar which I can eat but don't really aspire to.  I let her have it, at times.

We had a terrific lunch at the local Italian place we like.  Their head chef of course is Mexican.  He can really fix chicken properly, not overly cooked.  I have to give the French their due of course, but Italian food is right there, for me.  I also find Indian and Thai food to be diverse and interesting.  Our two nearest quasi-French places are ... unimpressive, OK, but so so.  Meanwhile, in Canton, GA, a small town north of here, we had a nice French lunch a couple days ago after consulting with our lawyer lady.

There used to be a very good French place in Blue Ridge, GA, but it burned down.  I don't know why these smaller towns can support a French place and we can't.  Yeah, there are some in Buckhead that are OK, one in Decatur we like, another one in Brookhaven I like more than my wife.  She's particular.  I'm told the basic ingredient here, things like flour, are just different.  My smeller is pretty roasted for various reasons, my wife has very sensitive smelling.  I don't.

Really nice day here today.

We're gearing up for about 90 days in a row of 90 +.

I shall pour out a beer in remembrance of your strained A/C unit.
