It was an ETF conference.  Im on flight home. My first trip there in 20 years.  Filthy, messy

A few exceptional meals , but yes a wretched place for the most part.  Sportsbook was good to me.

Nobu, can't go wrong.
Prime at Bellagio
Mother Wolf at Fountainbleu (a place featuring 'Roman' classics.)

Where are you guys at/will be at?
Trade show at the Venetian.

Well that's a short flight.
Yeah, from here it's barely long enough to reach cruising altitude.

Must be on the way here.  Going to be 96 on Saturday.  For reference, it was forecast 13 a couple of days ago for the low, and a guy told me it was actually 6.

The wind this past Saturday was way closer to 96 mph than 6.  Lots of signs on I-70 blown over, I noticed yesterday.

I read Nebraska is on fire the last few days.  Always something.  Always has been.
I saw some smoke

If a nuke is ever dropped on the USA, my vote goes to Vegas.

Runner up -- New Orleans.

Neither city should exist in the locations they are, as they are.

We had our chance with NO, but nobody listened to me.

I blame the French
In their defense, they never envisioned a city of 700K by 1960.

It was intended to be a port city with easy access to the port of Biloxi, and it was situated at the French Quarter, which is on higher ground than areas around it.

It is now at about 320K people. After Katrina it was 250K.

I maintained that the City should only exist where man-made levees are not needed to "protect" people. Nobody listened.

I've noted before that somehow we "missed" whatever it is in NO that is terrific.  My wife has been twice now, says she'll never go back.  I was there once for 3 days, I thought we walked around a good bit.  Not my cup of tea, at all.  I'd opine, for me, it's the worst larger city I've visited, and I have been in'em all.

It's like going to Austin and finding mediocre BBQ, it can be done, but it take real effort, or bad luck.

Part of both is being "saddled" so to speak with lady friends of my wife's.  I don't think either really "knew" much about the places.

Well you somehow managed to visit both New Orlean and Austin and not find any good food, so I'd say you're either catastrophically unlucky, or cursed.
