We had quite the weather today in south Phx.  Blaring weather alerts over and over on everyone's phone, with eminent flash-flood warnings, saying it's dangerous and "life-threatening" to be out driving.

Probably got more inches of rain in 3 hours than in the previous year combined.  Monsoon.  Deluge.  

I could have done without the 19 Amber alert-style warnings on everyone's phones going off.

Flash floods in a desert are no joke. Glad to hear you're ok.

Yeah, but where they happen is known.  Infrastructure negates much of those locations.  Any roads crossing a wash have permanent signs warning about it.

Apparently it was the most rain in one day in Phoenix in 7 years.
