Places I have visited where I have no desire to return, ever:

New Orleans - As noted before, I may have missed something, but my wife feels the same way.  It was dirty and uninteresting, to me, the FQ.  We had one decent meal at lunch when we were away from our French friend, but it wasn't anything notable.

Mrytle Beach - I don't play golf any more.  The beach part is decent, the "tourists" are, well, anyway, it's the Redneck Riviera.  Not my cup of tea.

Pigeon Forge - Even worse, IMHO, massive traffic,  touristy gimmicks, I guess it would appeal some to smaller kids.  My wife loathes the place.  I recall what it was like in the early 60s, not much there except corn.

Sedona, AZ - The town itself is a collection of T shirt and magic rock stores and over priced food.  The terrain around it is a "see once" kind of thing, to me.  We dined twice at a nice Italian restaurant Badge suggested.  We drove around a good bit, which was OK, saw Meteor Crater.

Cherokee, NC - The place makes me sad, but the only way to get into the main part of the Smoky Mountains.  You can bypass it on the Parkway a bit.

Napa Valley - Seems a bit odd for a wine drinker, but been there, seen that, it's now over priced overly touristy wine busses galore and not fun, to me.  Sonoma seems headed in the same direction.

Temecula, CA - I'll throw this in, a Napa wannabe that isn't, really not that interesting, to me.
Hated nola.

Unfortunately living in AZ Sedona is one of those places that I have to take visitors along with as my wife puts it, the big hole in the ground north of Sedona.  Both are visit once kind of places.

Today is a drive across Canada into Michigan and stopping around Chicago.  Only stopping there because it is a convenient place on our way west. We limit our driving to around 8 hours a day.

Sedona is a good place to fly with my BiL when we visit.

His home airport is Stellar Airpark in Chandler.

Yeah, I just don't get that.  The Grand Canyon is breathtaking, I've been more than once, and I hope to see it again a few more times.

I guess I get that the town of Sedona itself is nothing special.  But for folks like me who like beautiful scenery--and in a former life, enjoyed hiking--I think the Sedona area is a great place to visit.  Sedona is just kind of where you stay while you're taking in the better stuff around the town.  And I love the drive between Sedona and Flagstaff.  Just gorgeous.

I think with the town of Sedona I had higher expectations which led to disappointment.  Thinking back, it's an OK town, and as noted, a place to stay while seeing the outskirts.  I stayed once in Red Lodge, MT and then drove the Beartooth Highway,  THAT was a thing to do.

I have been to both so many times, I couldn't count.  Don't need to see them again.  As I said every time someone visits who have never been to Arizona before.  Seems like at least twice a year if not more, year end, year out.

Curious. I've been to New Orleans twice, and would happily go back. I have zero interest in Bourbon Street, but I enjoyed walking the city, the jazz scene, good food, the WWII museum.

Napa is pretty touristy. I prefer Sonoma, but Calistoga (northern part of the Napa Valley) is a place I return to for a chill weekend getaway.

I really enjoyed going to Bryce Canyon, but that's a place I don't need to re-visit. Once--to see the hoodoos--was enough. Same for Acadia in Maine. Beautiful place, but no need to return to it.

Badge may not like hearing it, but I've been to Florida maybe five times and although I enjoyed visiting amusement parks and the Kennedy Space Center with my kids (when they were little), there's nothing pulling me back. The weather really got to me. I'm sure there is plenty of great stuff in Florida, but it's a tough sell for me. The right college football matchup might lure me in.

I lived in South Korea for 18 months, to be fair, on U.S. military installations. I visited Seoul several times and had a good time, but I have no desire to go back. While I was there, I went to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Enjoyed going, but also no need to go back.

I feel the same way about Venice. Got to see it. It was interesting and pretty, in its way. And smelly and run down, and kind of creepy. That was all I needed. Would absolutely go back to Italy, but Venice is unlikely to be on my itinerary again.

Florida is not for everyone, that's for sure. It's really hot and humid for 4 months and it can get to ya.

As for CA, the Pacific Ocean is cold and pretty rough most times, and I don't like the marine layer every day. The boating is not what I like about boating here.

In terms of Venice, my order would be

1. Venice, FL
2. Venice Beach, CA

5621. Venice, IT.

Guess being a Memphis boy, I'm totally unbothered --- and grateful to have a breeze.

Only 4 months?  Sounds wonderful.

I'd guess many places are good/great the first time you're there, but little reason to go back

Iowa and Nebraska could be like that

unless you're following a team to Omaha for the CWS

Beartooth Highway is my favorite road in the U.S.     I've had some amazing canoe rides/fishing/picnics/hikes, hitting golf balls that sail for seemingly ever, etc.   all over that 68 mile stretch.
