Thank the football gods for Week 0 is upon us
« on: August 24, 2023, 10:19:20 AM »
little more than 48 hours til the college football season officially kicks off. thank god. we've got 7 games on this Saturday, probably going to tune into at least some of the ND and USC games.

Navy v #13 Notre Dame in Dublin, Ireland (would be pretty cool if ND played another helmet over seas to kick off a season instead of creampuffs)
UTEP @ Jacksonville State
UMass @ New Mexico State
Ohio @ San Diego State
Hawaii @ Vanderbilt
San Jose State @ #6 USC
FIU @ Louisiana Tech

Will be interesting to see if USC's defense still shows zero life at all- like they did all last year- even against the creampuffs. And can Navy actually upset Notre Dame? Highly doubtful. But hey, it could happen. ND lost to a god awful Stanford team at home and to freaking Marshall at home last year.

better than absolutely nothing. i'll take what I can get at this point. cfb can't get here fast enough.

and if Caleb Williams is playing QB, I'll watch that all day long. dude is a special player. too bad USC is baby shit soft on defense and up front at the line of scrimmage on offense. Caleb should've hit the portal again and went to OSU or BAMA. My god they'd both be terrifying with a QB like that.

Maybe it was the 100 degree temps in Chicago yesterday but it does not feel like Football should be starting already.

That's standard football weather down here.  Let's get to it!

Supposed to be 98°F today and 99°F tomorrow here, and then some moderating down to the high 80s.

Trees make an enormous difference of course, the shade, maybe some breeze, lower RH.

They emphasized planting trees here along the sidewalks a while back and it really shows.

Yeah, if you're a service academy and not running the option, are you even trying??

I saw a bit of the Navy/Notre Dame game from Ireland but it was a complete Wipeout and not very interesting.

It looks like all the evening games are pretty good:

  • UTEP/JvSt are in a close one late.
  • UMASS/NMST are tied at the half in a bottom ten thriller.
  • OhioU is down 4 at halftime at SDSU
  • SJSU just tied up USC.
Why is Hawaii/Vanderbilt delayed?

If nothing else, good on San Jose State for being ready and competing hard.
