Heartland Park just south of Topeka is on that circuit.  Uncle owned a NAPA store, and he used to bring a bunch of local guys from out west for the weekend.  Got to go a couple of times while living up there.  Scott Kalitta was the best, and was setting the record 30 years ago at just over 300.  John Force was the Funny Car King, then put 3 of his 4 daughters in those nitro cars, another in the business.  Used to know the NHRA was in town, could hear them from the golf course many miles away.

For sure.

But are you gonna drive that ~40 y/o $427,000.00 car with 30 miles on it?

I don't think I could.

It would have to just be parked in the spare garage spot I don't have.

I'd rather just get a regular GN that's been driven lightly so I could drive it lightly.

Even if it was in my league there are beau coup other rides I'd snatch up. Were the hell you going to go with? Certainly not tailgaiting on saturdays during Fall. Or to the dock when out fishing or to any Oktoberfests

Yeah that thing's a museum piece.  I too would much rather have something less rare that I could actually drive.

A 65 Mustang convertible would suit me just fine. :)

Ed Zachery, it's a collector car
not to be driven

better to find one in a barn with 100,000+ miles and plenty of wear and tear - buy it for $15,000, then spend $100,000 on a complete restomod rebuild with fresh rolling chassis with updated suspension, new drivetrain, rebuild the motor

and then have something you can drive as much as you like

Yeah, I've seen those 3.8/231 V6's tuned to as high as 700 HP. That would need a new tranny.

I'd be fine with 350-400 HP.

Leather interior with cooling seats would be a must.

Here's one with some mods for a mere $40,000.  Obviously not a GNX but a nice looking Grand National that I wouldn't be afraid to drive whenever I liked.
