Heartland Park just south of Topeka is on that circuit. Uncle owned a NAPA store, and he used to bring a bunch of local guys from out west for the weekend. Got to go a couple of times while living up there. Scott Kalitta was the best, and was setting the record 30 years ago at just over 300. John Force was the Funny Car King, then put 3 of his 4 daughters in those nitro cars, another in the business. Used to know the NHRA was in town, could hear them from the golf course many miles away.
