Looks like poverty, obesity, poor education, and voting against your own self-interest in the name of ideology makes you SAD.

Yeah let's make it political, and conveniently ignore that Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Vermont, Maine and New Mexico are crying in their beer.

I was commenting on a trend, not a totality.
Yes, it's political when policies keep those places poor, unhealthy, and uneducated.  It's not inherent.  Suggesting that is worse than anything I could possibly put forward.

I am.  And a big part of the reason why is that both of my parents "got out" of rural GA.  Didn't get a job at the local factory.  Didn't take over the family farm.  They got their college degrees in civil engineering and accounting.  They lived in different places around the country.

I'm grateful for that.

in June of 2025 the state of Nebraska was looking forward to the Coach Rhule 3rd season "jump" to double digit wins
and the baseball team had just won the B1G tournament

I have no idea how the rating measured happiness, the chart well could be nonsense.  I'm more interested in why "we" love rankings.  If you found a good restaurant you like a lot, great, don't worry that it was missed on some "list".

I see the Michelin raters came back here and added a few more places.  Fine with me.  I do think they do a pretty decent job overall and their ratings mean "something" more than Yelp ratings.

"We" like it when some purported expect tells us what's what.

Yeah, it relates to confirmation bias.  Some thing we like gets "five stars", so we feel justified in liking it, I guess.  Same with wine of course, where it's probably worse than for other things.

"We" like confirmation of what we want to believe in the first place, by "experts".  If the "experts" predict our team will lose, well, they were never really experts now were they?

If our team is ranked 18th, we think they should be at least 13th.

Watch the "news" that tells you what you want to hear, and ignore anything that is contrary as "fake news".
