I loved Johnny. For me "The end" was when Letterman switched from NBC to CBS and sort of lost his edge.

But I still see occasional bits from all of these new guys.  Some are funny, some aren't. Mostly I'm either reading, working, or watching something on TV that my wife picked out, at that hour.  Most any "bits" I see, are from Youtube.

Interesting stuff regarding Florida condos. Some bad, some good. Overall positive, I think.

As Florida Condo Prices Fall, What’s a Condo Seller to Do? (msn.com)
Better the price collapse than the condo itself.

I agree.

And what I like about this in particular is that the owners are selling in bulk to developers, who will knock them down and build something far better.

Codes and enforcement are a lot better here than it was in 2007.

Our house was built in 1994. There were 16 total electrical circuits. ALL of the GFI outlets, including the ones outside, in the kitchen and in both bathrooms, were on ONE circuit, and the lone GFI outlet was in the garage. That was a rude awakening.

Our house now has 34 circuits.

Now, for sure. There is nothing on worth staying up for anyway.

People used to keep most of their political opinions to themselves.  It was a known taboo, unless everybody held your same opinion.
These times were better.

I don't know that they were better. What I do know as that people generally respected one another more than they do today.

So, that was better.

We have liberal friends. They can be hard to engage at times, but at least they engage if something comes up. Mostly we just enjoy the friendships and casually discuss POLICY.

I’d argue that part of what made it easier to sometime engage on neutral territory was the fact that getting too spastic and over-the-top about your politics was seen as embarrassing. There was a social contract that you should try to regulate yourself.

Ain’t that way anymore.

For many, that is true. Most of us do regulate ourselves. I don't see any extremists here on this B1G board, for example.

“Not what we have But what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance.”

― Epicurus

I was musing about how when I was a kid, I had few things, I liked building sets and had two of them.  I built stuff, and drew pictures of buildings and highways, figured I'd be an architect or civil engineer.  I had a small battery powered radio.  I enjoyed what little I had, and tried to take very good care of it all.  Sure, I wanted more stuff, but I find once I started getting more stuff, a lot of stuff ends up in boxes or attics or storage units.

Now, the quote above might not be entirely true, when I had little, I would have enjoyed more abundance that I felt I lacked.  But then, what I didn't have was not "my abundance".  Then I think about my savings, which I have, but don't exactly enjoy all of it because I'm thrifty and understand the need to keep it for the future, but I suppose I enjoy having that.

The end of my late night viewing was when Johnny Carson hung it up. Simply, he was the best. Nobody can match him.
well if Carson was comparable to Late Nite what Cy Young was to Pitchers
then Letterman is honorable mention as Walter Johnson
the rest of Late Nite are pitching batting practice
