Just back from running, super nice day, coolish, but great for running.  My legs will be barking later though.

My brother who's been looking for work for about 5 months, landed a job yesterday!  It's with Amazon and it actually pays significantly more than his previous job.  So that's some happy news for our family.

Got my 1-yr post-op results back today, along with continued surveillance of my lungs.

Nothing new spotted in the formerly cancerous kidney, yay!  Lung nodules previously detected have not multiplied or grown, so nothing suspicious for cancer there so far, yay!

I forget if I go in 6 months again next time, or if it'll be a full year this time.  I know that if my kidney stays clear for 5 years (just 4 away now), my surveillance stops because the chance of recurrence goes down to the point that continued surveillance isn't considered necessary/prudent.

My bout with cancer was--thankfully--nothing like what I've watched so many of my friends and family go through, whether they went into remission or not.  Most days I don't think about it, and when I do, I'm not able to mentally categorize myself as a "cancer survivor" because my story is just nothing like what most people's are.  As I sometimes joke, if you have to get cancer, get the one I had.

But I will tell you this.  There is that brief moment of worry and fear before test results, and it is a still a major relief when I get my records from the imaging center that say everything looks fine.

I have not had to deal with cancer either firsthand or with family (aside from a pretty minor skin cancer thing).  For that I am thankful.  My buddy down the hall had prostate cancer treated with protons successfully, he says.  It's good to hear stories so we remain aware, and thankful.
