I don't know, but if those guys could find the Grumpy thread, I bet they'd post about how much they hate it when you're just standing in a peach orchard, singing about how much you love peaches, and then ninjas attack.

Ninjas can only attack you on only 30% of the planet.  Pirates can attack on you on 70% of it.

maybe a short trip to Athens will make him happy
I drove around downtown looking for a nice place for lunch, parked, and couldn't read the parking meter.  The glass had frosted over.  Couldn't read the one next to it.  So, we left, drove to Monroe, GA, which has done a nice job resurrecting itself and had a nice lunch at a Thai place and then visited a consignment store and spent $183 on plates we may never use.  And a book.

The drive back from there was pretty heinous, suburbia on steroids with traffic.  We went a different route that is being converted from a four lane to limited access with a lot of construction.  I know when they built GA 316 to be four lanes with crossing traffic it was to save money, but now they are spending billions to convert it.  Campus was empty. My wife found non-reusable small phone batteries she wanted, kind of an OK idea for $7.  We both have backup batteries but mine is pretty beavy.  We figured these would be good when we're traveling light.  My phone does run down if I'm taking photos a lot in a day.

Athens is REALLY different now from back in 1872.

Was that your freshman or your senior year?

Freshman.   UGA was chartered way back before that, nearly a century … but UNC opened first.

Gas $3.02 yesterday when I filled up.  Noticed it was $2.99 this morning.  Hopefully that trend continues.

We wound up taking an easy, do-nothing day for the 4th.  Originally scheduled to go to my dad's where he was having people over and Q'ing it up, we wound up not doing that, mostly because I'd had to go to Louisiana for the past two weekends and was feeling a bit too wiped for a 3rd weekend in a row.  Since we had not planned on doing anything ourselves and the boys and their fiances were at their dad's for Q and fireworks, we slept in, went to the movies, laid around like the lazy degenerates we are, and watched the 9 pm fireworks down the road at the Baptist church from our front porch.  I was impressed with the fireworks display for a small town.

We probably won't do so much nothing on another July 4, since we usually have something going on, but this year I admit it was nice to just take a day off.

Kinda boring, but yesterday I needed to toast some pistachios for a recipe.

So I put them in a pan, and got started... But obviously you need to move/flip them over time.

So for the first time, I actually attempted the little "flip" move you see cooks do, where they do a little circular move with the pan that throws the contents against the side, up and back, and then catches in the middle of the pan.

I've never done this before, because I've always been scared I'll send food all over the stove (and possibly the floor, or myself, etc)...

But I did it, successfully, multiple times and not a single pistachio was dropped.

It's a little thing, but I was pretty proud of myself.

Yes.  That's what is typically quoted when people are talking about the "national average gas price."  If you're buying premium you're on your own. :)

Our vehicles take 91 and only one store has that - WAWA.

93 is a lot more money and we don't need it.

So I discovered a long lost sister back in November, or we discovered each other via Ancestry.com as it were.

We had only met up once so far -- back on my birthday in late December.

Her and her husband came down and spent the July 4th weekend with us, and lots of new meet ups for her with my family, and she was universally embraced.  All went great.

And she surprised me with Cubs/Cards tickets for July 28th  at Busch Stadium, so, uh.....yeah.... Happy, Happy.
