I have no idea what that means, but it would seem to be positive?

Y/Y was 28.5% and we hit 43%. Definitely the best 1 year run we've ever had.

We don't do commodities. Never have. Too volatile and too easily manipulated for our liking.

We don't hold any more individual stocks - got rid of them all and glad we did.

We had a lot of BAX because of my wife working there for 38 years. Sold it at $90+/- back in 2020 and now it's at $17. Big tax event but still dodged a bullet. All of the other stocks are gone too. Not playing that game anymore.

Mutual funds. It's how we roll.

Just counting what I've owned longer than 1 year, I'm up 2039%.

My short-term holdings are only up 616% relative to their cost basis. Can't easily come up with an annualized return because that's been added in chunks over the last 12 months.

It's been a good year :57:

Yeah, those once in a lifetime events are pretty nice.

Selling our Compton/Long Beach stuff is gonna be one of those events. Should be a 400% return, or so.

Probably our last big event, to be honest, and don't need another.

Happy.

That’s amazing!   Well done.

I am very satisfied at 23% year over year.  I have moved to an asset allocation that is a bit more conservative since I am retiring at the end of the year.

I'm going to do that in September/October (before midterms), subject to my advisor's ideas.

In this case, something akin to “holy shit”

Mutual funds. It's how we roll.

I like mutual funds and ETFs.

My IRA dashboard tells me I'm up like a boss, and I look at the dollar amounts and think "No way."  Seems easier to gauge when it's not that old, but apparently not, because when I do the math, it's correct.  It doesn't look like that much, but that's what it works out to.

I've got it balanced very aggressively.  I got a late start due to forces mostly outside my control.  Go big or go home at this point.  It forecasts what it projects the fund to be worth in 10 years, and I'm like "Day-um!  I sure hope so."  Nothing like what some people will be rolling with, but way better than I could've hoped for given the circumstances I started with.

There used to be a small part of me that was envious of very financially successful people.  Something maybe more like jealousy.  An ugly, spiteful element to it.

Somewhere along the way I shed that, thank God.  When I see friends (or even not friends) doing well, who worked hard, invested, and it paid off, I'm 100% happy for them.

I'm happy about that.

Being a jealous asshole is for the birds.

Never felt jealous - envy sure. That motivated me to put my head down and go get it.

Now, of course there's the trust fund/history of fine arts family in Bel Air...

That level of wealth is not in my reach, unless whoever it is that gave me up for adoption (apparently, they had $$$) can include me in the will. :)

Comparison, thief of joy, all that.

You gotta work at it because money does deliver a baseline level of happiness. Buy dwelling on what someone else has, just a recipe to deplete joy.
