paired nicely with Big Grove brewery Octoberfest

the Mill Stream Octoberfest keg ran dry as I walked in the door!

My son finished his first round of college applications a few days ago, for the schools that have early deadlines of Oct 15.

So now he has officially applied to Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

Yup my daughter did the same for early deadlines, as well as a few that she just wanted to get completed.  All of this week in Texas, it's zero-application-fee for in-state residents at most Texas state schools.

She's officially applied to:

Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Auburn, UC-Davis, and NC-State.

Now we're working through scholarship applications.

My daughter only applied to Texas and was initally rejected. She kept sending them things like articals she had written for her school paper and the fact she made edditor of her school paper.  This was to the school of communications.

I guess they got tired of this and sent her a letter of acceptance late in the application process,

It was like she ran a political campaign.

I was very proud of her.

Had nice dinner at Divan with our friends.  Tomorrow, Rome.  Well, Sunday actually, leaving tomorrow evening.  Late.

We're home, slept in our own bed last night.  Pretty tired from flights.

Cold here, I had left heating off.

I love our wifi connected thermostats.  A few hours before getting home, I turn on the AC (never the heat) so the house is cooled off before getting home.

Spent the weekend in Cape May, NJ.

Proud of this guy, graduated basic, and now a Guardsman, hitting CG Station Ft. Lauderdale in 2 weeks.

Just saw these.

So, potentially, brad's son and utee's daughter could both go to A&M, meet, fall in love, get married, and then the guys here would have some Engineering Uber-nerd grandkids.

......who would undoubtedly grow up Aggie fans.  Hmm.

The world needs uber nerd engineers, but I don't want the Aggies getting too powerful.

World definitely doesn't need more Aggies, but it is what it is.

One of our two heat pumps has a wifi thermostat, but for whatever reason it disconnected from wifi (we did have a power outage at some point).  So, I couldn't turn it on remotely.

I've been known to watch TV and get chilly or too warm and adjust the thermostat without getting up and walking ten feet.

We also had the building water tank replaced while we were gone and apparently that did not go smoothly.  Our heat depends on said water tank, there were a lot of emails about it, folks not having hot water or heat at various points. I had to cycle out heat pump a few times to get it up and running.  They are efficient but a bit problematic.
