He's an asshole.
I'm reading the same.  Too bad, he had a great run, and that's probably why it did not continue.

I've met the guy. He has the aura of an asshole.

So does Bill Murray.

A lot of entertainers are assholes.  I worry about that, exactly as much as I worry about their political opinions, when it comes to whether or not I appreciate their entertainment.

I think in Chevy Chase's case, it's that nobody wanted to work with him, rather than what the consumers think.

But like I said, he had a helluva run, just in the 80's.

Chase just never made me laugh.  On the Vacation movies, it was either the writing or Randy Quaid, tbh.  Idk, I love Bill Murray, and I guess they literally got in a fight on SNL.

I like things Chase is in.  Has nothing to do with him being an asshole or not.  Murray makes me laugh.  Steve Martin.  Martin Short (esp as Glick).

Idk what it was, but he just never got me going, comically.

Maybe?  I mean, he's 82 now-- he obviously aged out of being a lead actor, but into his 70s he still had steady work all the way up to the sitcom Community, in which I thought he was fantastic as part of the ensemble cast.  I read somewhere that he got into it with some of the cast and/or producers on that show, and over the decades he infamously had spats with Bill Murray and others, but I don't personally give one half of one rat's ass about any of that.

So, maybe it cost him some roles, but it's not like he disappeared for a decade at a time like the actors who actually get blackballed.

Not to beat this horse past death, but I think his credits indicated he disappeared in about 1990.

Memoirs of an invisible Man was an underrated Chase flick
