I was definitely thinking of that. But then there's was the whole mortuary scene. "It is our most modest receptacle." Obviously they were both there over the same dead person.
Upon visiting LA for the first time and seeing a Ralph's, I HAD to go in to get a membership card, as it was the Dude's only form of ID.
I was sad to learn they no longer have actual cards.

My most unpopular take is that I LOVE the Coen Brothers, Fargo is my all time favorite movie, and yet I find Big Lebowski fine.  I enjoy it, and maybe it's because I was forced to rewatch it weekly during college, but I've never felt the need to rewatch it on my own.  Whereas I just rewatched Fargo last week

recently saw the new Superman. basically just Guardians of the Galaxy meets Superman with a super dog and Lois Lane flying a space ship. kinda feels like the last one they made with Henry Cavill and Amy Adams like 12 years ago....liked the casting decisions in the lead roles but the movie is pretty meh and just doesn't work overall imo. it's pretty MEH and definitely geared towards children and not an adult audience- whereas the previous one was the opposite and maybe a little too dark and serious. would be nice if they could land it somewhere in the middle.

OG movie with Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, and Gene Hackman is just going to be impossible to top imo. they should probably stop trying.

Still planning on seeing it, but that's pretty close to the take most others have had who reviewed it.

I agree, Christopher Reeve and Richard Donner had a bead on that character and the spirit of that character that was uniquely great.  For various reasons, I don't think Hollywood is likely to recapture that any time soon, because, frankly, some of the things that really made the character, Hollywood is just ignorant of, anymore.

Also, I'm a bit put out that the score of this new movie appears to have borrowed from John Williams' original.  Like.....either use his composition or do a whole different one.  Don't try to change or improve a John Williams classic.  That dude literally put two notes together and made Jaws a terrifying menace to generations.  You can't tweak his stuff and expect it to be as good.  Or, how 'bout this.....he's still alive and working.....hire him to do another score if you want to go a different way.  I've heard the electric-guitar redo of this thing and.....yeah, it's the same problem as James Gunn......it's trying to capture all the elements it knows it should, but it refuses to take them on their own terms and so just kinda.....fails.  It sounds ok, but it doesn't sound hopeful, optimistic, and triumphant like the Reeve movies.

it's definitely a watchable movie- but was just expecting a lot more and left the theater feeling meh. the lead actors are pretty talented and very well cast. honestly the lead actors are great. only casting decisions they screwed up was supermans earth parents imo- but they are barely in the movie so doubt any major actor would take the part. i'd definitely take the kids or grandkids to see it (not sure of your age) in imax or something- it's worth a watch- but overall kinda meh and feeling like it could've been a lot better.

won't get into spoilers- but the movie just picks up few years into Superman's "career" with like no explanation or back story at all. they basically just skipped the whole origin story and are like- hey guys here's Superman. should've just did a clean reboot/origin story imo and kept Lois Lane from flying space ships and kept the super dog out of it.

agree with you on the music 100%. either do a new score with Hans Zimmer or whoever Christopher Nolan uses- or just use the same damn OG score from John Williams- that score is a masterpiece- can't perfect perfection.

They are an acquired taste I think, and I acquired it, Raising Arizona might be my fav.

I started back watching Ballard.  Not as good as Bosch.

The unpopular take is being only ok with Big Lebowski, right? Not liking the Coens?

What's the worst show that you've ever binge watched from start to finish?

Raising Arizona is brilliant.

Big Lebowski is just ok.  Quotable for sure, but not as good as many of their other movies.

Hmmm.  I have gone back and watched some things I thought were fantastic 30 years ago and found now to be just "OK", one that comes to minds is the series about Roman Emperors.

It even had Jean Luc Piccard in it.  When I first watched I thought it was by far the best thing I'd ever seen on TV.

Mad Men.

I really don't get the hype.  It was watchable, but not great, and I'd even say meh.  There is clearly some weird appeal, because I kept asking myself why I kept going with the binge, and still I carried on.  Maybe it's my personality that likes to finish things I start....maybe it's that I kept thinking surely it's about to get better because it was so popular.  Maybe beneath the surface there was something to like I didn't consciously notice.

Or maybe it was just meh and I was bored.

Different strokes.

I think Mad Men is the best drama on television, ever.
