OT - Pet Peeves Thread

So... Coworker sent out an email (multiple people, including one of our distributors) asking if I was available on Monday 7/20 at 11:30 AM PST for disty sales training..

I didn't poke a sharp stick in their eye. I just replied... "I'm good for Monday 11:30 AM PDT."

The distributor didn't pick up on this and said "Great, we're confirmed for Monday 11:30 AM PST!"

For some of us is makes a difference.  I am on MST all year never on MDT

Yes, which is why it's important for someone to get it right. 

If someone in Colorado is arranging a phone call with you in Arizona, and they mistakenly use MST while they're on MDT in their planning because they don't know the difference, that phone call will occur an hour off expectation for at least one of you...

First day of work at school on the Navajo Rez.
No problem, I'd worked in Phoenix the year before, no time changing.  No big deal.
Get up, going in 45 min early, bright-eye and bushy-tailed.
15 minutes late.
Fuck.

Through all the process of interviewing, getting hired, signing everything, getting housing, etc.....not one word about the reservation having daylight savings time.
And then, years later, I learn the Hopi reservation, which is entirely inside of the Navajo rez....does not have it!
Madness, I tell you.

And so with all of that, for half the year, it doesn't even matter!

One of the things we needed to have replaced by our landlord a while back was our dishwasher. It's nicer, and instead of being white, it's stainless/black and with the replaced oven and microwave (and our stainless fridge and stainless/black wine fridge), everything is cohesive. 

But...

The previous dishwasher had a physical latch to lock it closed. So everyone in the house knew whether the dishwasher was clean or dirty. If the latch was locked, it meant the dishwasher had been run. 

The new one doesn't have this. It has a little light that comes on after it's clean that stays on so you know that it has been run and it's clean.

Well, nobody in the house [except me] seemed to understand what that light meant. So nobody in the house [except me] knew if it was clean. 

So my wife decided to get a magnet. On one side of the magnet it says "Clean" on one side, and "Dirty" on the other (the two sides being contrasting colors to make it even more obvious). 

Easy, right? Now everyone always knows if it's clean or dirty!

Err, no. It seems that I'm the only one that's diligent enough to remember to flip the magnet each time. Or even to look at it... My wife put a dirty coffee mug in this morning despite the fact that the little blue light AND the big white magnet were both signifying that the dishwasher was clean. 

Annoying. We have two different mechanisms to help people figure this out, and yet we still have this issue. 

I know, I know... It's a little thing. But that's why it's in this thread.
