Maryland has a ton of talent, just not enough depth.

After Pigrome threw that interception I thought we were done for. However, it was just a tad bit high and was tipped by the receiver.

Ty Johnson is the real deal as I've said since his freshman year, and Lorenzo Harrison is electric, but struggled today. Anthony McFarland it's not far behind and I'm surprised they didn't get any playing time today.

Pigrome did a hell of a job today... much better than I thought.

I sure hope that he didn't do major damage to his knee today.

Kasim Hill came in and ran the offense but you can tell he's very limited and raw.

The offensive line can stand toe-to-toe with any team in the Big Ten, but there is no depth.

We rushed no more than three to four lineman on defense today. The defense was awesome. 21 of those points are on special teams and an INT so IT skewed the numbers.

Might just get to a Bowl this year.  Just keep recruiting and building depth and we will be competing for the Big Ten East in no time.

MC, is there an update on the kid they hauled away on the backboard?  He looked like he took a pretty good knee to the head.

Maryland looks solid, and the backup QB Hill looks like a stud for the future.

Up and walking around at the hospital.
Concussion protocol is in place.

Future of the division looks increasingly nasty.

Granted some of Marylands gain is a zero sum gain, as I assume a chunk of their improved recruiting would likely be kids who would otherwise go to PSU, and to a lesser extent OSU or UM?

So what's the story here?

1. Maryland = good.
2. Texas = more of a rebuild than expected.

I'd say, both
takes a while as a new coach to implement the entire package, culture, attitude, offense, defense

Maryland is better than expected, but I didn't get the Texas love.  I think I had them around #50 in my preseason rankings.

If the game had been in College Park, probably would have picked the Terps.

hope Durkin stays at Maryland for the long haul. They've got that Under Armour money and the DMV produces a ton of talent. If he can just start keeping some of it home....
He's both an Urban/Harbaugh disciple, worked for a long time for both of those guys- and they don't suffer fools- they only hire good coaches to work for them. And it looks like they both rubbed off on Durkin.
But you're probably right- especially if Durkin turns Maryland into a winner. The calls will come his way when big jobs open up, and McElwain's days at Florida are definitely numbered. Going 10-4/9-4 every year and back-dooring into the SEC CG by winning a weak SEC East and then getting their doors blown off by in-state rival FSU and then Alabama in the SEC CG is going to get tiresome for UF fans eventually. The rumblings are starting to happen already.
That's an elite job. Lots of guys will want that thing. Spurrier and Meyer showed what an elite coach can do with all that home-grown Florida talent. Not many jobs better than UF.

Maryland can be just as elite, if the program decides to make football a priority, like we've been told it is, for all those reasons mentioned.

We just need depth.

More help is being recruited.

Too early, and it would be a nightmare.

It's not a knock on Maryland.  There are less than a dozen jobs where you can be confident they are career ending jobs, and even then the NFL is looking.
