A state owned grocery would be different from a subsidized grocery, would it not?  The after tax margins in the grocery business are ... slim.  Before tax margins of course are a bit better, but we're talking single digit.  If some grocery operated at no profit, folks could hardly see a difference.  This presumes they also don't pay "a living wage" to their workers, whatever that is these days.

“One sided, single-topic posts”?

We should shut the whole board down then!  LMAO

What topics should we be covering in a thread titled “Politics Thread”?
Have you posted in any other thread on this board?

I suspect you might be a MAGA bot

I would be curious as to whether it would be more efficient to do a CHIP delivery service.  Granted neither side would be on board with that.

I mean, there are dozens of threads for that.  And only one for politics.

So...
And one for booze and cocaine!

Where else online are you going to find the thread variety we offer?

Trump is and has been lying his fucking ass off about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein

I used to have friends that now embarrass me, I'm neither a billionaire nor a President.
any of those friends the most notorious pedophile in American history?

it’s easy to see why Trump wants to distance himself from Epstein as far as humanly possible.

The city or state owns the building and the store itself is subsidized.  The funky smells are free though.

How would a state run grocery store improve on the 1.5-2% margins private companies make?
It wouldn’t. I’m not a particular advocate of the idea, but the idea is what it is:

-It’s not gonna improve business for other stores, and instead should be a net neutral unless you’re dollar general.
-The won’t ever be profitable. If they were, then there wouldn’t be a food desert to start with.

The question of how nice they should be is sort of odd. Like outside of being clean and modestly functional, such a thing should be worse than many grocery stores.

We should sometimes post about football and shit like that.
I kind of agree with OAM because this WAS a football board where the members would discuss football with other topics mixed in.

This thread was originally titled “in other news” and we would lightly discuss politics and other stuff.
