We were a VHS family from the start.  

I did have a teacher who was so committed to Beta that she brought her own into school and paid for her own tapes because the school only had VHS.  The sad part was that this was 1997.  VHS was almost done by that point

any such invasion by US would've been doomed to fail. the only conceivably realistic way to break USSR would've been to use nukes on them in the 4 year head start US had on them on the atom bomb imo.
