I'd want to know how big the Pension liability is.  $28.5 Billion is a LOT of money but IIRC, Detriot's Pension liaiblity was in that vicinity and that is just for one City.  The State of Texas' total pension liability could dwarf that figure.  It might not, I don't know, but I'm just pointing out that $28.5B isn't actually as much as it sounds like when you start looking at Pension liability.
Posted earlier in the thread, about $108 billion.  Honestly it doesn't seem bad with an overall population of 30 million or more.  The 2030 census will be very interesting.

Ah, I had missed that.  So if you offset it with the rainy day fund then $80B so yeah, not too bad per-capita.  Still, the numbers are just staggering.  It is hard to wrap your head around a liability of $100-200 BILLION dollars and that is just the unfunded part, not the total.

Sorry for the split/merge... But some people apparently can't restrain themselves.

Liberals trend younger, and they don't use Fb.
Also, give him time, he'll cause another cratering.

The liberals I see on FB were going on and on about how Trump cratered the stock market, and then more recently got us into a war with Iran.  They are back now complaining about billionaires, again.

Both sides do this of course, I was "exposed" to a gluttony of how Biden had crashed our economy.  I would ask nicely which economic metrics supported that, and the response would be "It's coming.".

The Something Really Bad because of a President from the wrong party usually is off in the future, somewhere.

Anyhow, neither party can ever EVER say another goddamned word about the deficit.  They officially do not give a shit.  It's another generation's problem, perpetually.  Until it isn't.

How voting patterns changed in the 2024 election: A detailed analysis | Pew Research Center

Some interesting shifts in who voted for Trump.

Voters ages 18 to 49 favored Harris by 7 percentage points in 2024, compared with a 17-point margin for Biden in 2020. Changing vote patterns were driven in part by defections among young voters: 8% of Biden’s 2020 voters under 50 switched to Trump in 2024, while 4% of voters in this group went from Trump to Harris.
