well bright side is the football team will get a lot better. Chinese math nerds and Indian doctor nerds aren't good at football. Ohio farm boys are.
With NIL, Harvard could field a dominant football team if they wanted to, and could get admissions on board

ANN ARBOR, Mich. —
Two Chinese researchers were charged with smuggling a biological pathogen that they planned to study at a University of Michigan lab, a complaint filed Tuesday says.

The charges come as the Trump administration is cracking down on Chinese students studying in the United States and citing alleged connections to the Chinese Communist Party in its ongoing fight with academic institutions.

Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, were charged with conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud the United States, smuggling goods into the United States, false statements and visa fraud for bringing in the fungus Fusarium graminearum from China, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Fusarium graminearum is described as “a potential agroterrorism weapon” that can cause disease in certain plants like corn, rice and barley, and is “responsible for billions of dollars in economic loss worldwide each year,” an FBI affidavit in support of the complaint says.

The charges come as the Trump administration is looking to revoke visas for Chinese students, especially those with alleged “connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last week. The State Department has zeroed in on any potential wrongdoing from academics across the country in the last several months, including a Harvard researcher accused of smuggling frog embryo remains.

Louisiana legislature House passes bill to ban chemtrails.

https://www.fox8live.com/2025/05/30/louisiana-lawmakers-push-chemtrail-ban-legislation-through-house/

Quote
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A bill that would ban so-called “chemtrails” in Louisiana advanced out of the state House of Representatives on May 29, despite scientific consensus that aircraft exhaust does not modify weather.

State Rep. Kimberly Landry Coates (R-Ponchatoula) defended SB46 on the House floor, saying she is concerned about aircraft leaving white streaks across the sky, which she claims are creating clouds and affecting weather patterns.

“This bill is to prevent any chemicals above us in the air, specifically to modify the weather,” Coates said.

The Environmental Protection Agency states that the white streaks seen in the sky are known as contrails. They are formed when hot aircraft exhaust meets cold atmospheric conditions, much like visible breath forms on a cold day, officials say.

But Coates and several other lawmakers refer to the lines as “chemtrails,” which she claims are made of nanochemicals that alter weather patterns.

During questioning on the House floor, State Rep. Candace Newell (D-New Orleans) asked about the chemicals Coates believes are involved.

“Other than the nanoparticles of aluminum, what else have you found?” Newell said.

“Barium. There is a few, some with long words that I can’t pronounce,” Coates said.

Coates also claimed the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sends chemicals into clouds to reflect sunlight and cool the Earth’s surface. However, NOAA says it does not conduct weather modification experiments and has no plans to do so.

Coates further suggested that multiple agencies are involved in what she believes is a chemtrail conspiracy in Louisiana.

“Who is doing this?” asked State Rep. Matthew Willard (D-New Orleans).

“There are multiple people. Multiple groups, contractors,” Coates said.

I take it back MDT-- you're allowed to move here.

Although I wouldn't be at all surprised to see something similar in the Texas leg...

You shouldn't be, because it's moving through. Same for here, and Kentucky, Tennessee and a few more.

Yeah Tennessee has already passed a law outlawing planes introducing chemicals into the atmosphere, and Texas has been hearing one with similar language, which while targeted at the same ridiculous conspiracy theory, isn't exactly the same as a bill with language that specifically mentions "chemtrails."

Because in the former case, on its surface it's just fine.  Nobody wants weird chemicals in the air, and passing legislation to outlaw it is just fine.  Not sure how anyone will enforce it, but on its face, it's okay.

But outlawing "chemtrails" without making any concession to the scientifically normal existence of "contrails" is something a little different IMO.  And more dangerous from a slippery slope perspective.  But also pretty much impossible to enforce.  Are they going to ban all air traffic within and over Louisiana?
