Well the thread got renamed to something accurate.  That's more than the Heisman people can do (most oustanding player my ass).

Citizens United gets a lot of blame for "stuff", mostly from folks who don't seem to understand it, and of course they think it benefits only Republicans.

It benefits whoever takes advantage of what it allows, lol.  I specified to my students it's not about party, thanks.

Especially when what they blame Citizens United for was actually decided by the ruling in Speechnow.org v FEC

If it advantages neither party over the other, and it's an aspect of free speech, why is it bad?

(I do dislike all the political ads, but there is a MUTE button.)

I don't see how it could be constitutional to mandate that X group can't spend money on political, or other, advertising, or movies, whatever.

Why have money in politics at all?  Free speech has limits.
What if ideas got people elected?!?!  :57:

What if we didn't have poverty, war, homelessness, crime?  What if?

Try getting elected to much of anything without any money, even if nobody else has it either.  Or perhaps "we" should let government control every aspect of how private individuals spend money?

That's an extreme, sure, but illustrative.  If I choose to spend my money trying to elect someone to office, why should I be prevented from doing that?

The White Sox are worse, and more painful to perceive, than any views posted here.
That’s why they’re quarantined off on the baseball thread that we don’t actually have.

I'd like to enter the last 15 years of our political system into evidence.

Also, the blood on hands doesn’t really make sense unless you’re being dramatic. The logic that unless the killer isn’t killed, the blood is actually on the hands of the people who don’t kill them? Doesn’t follow.

Do you ever see Leslie Van Houton poking around out there on the Left Coast?
