At times, a ground control instruction can be misunderstood, the fly at you fast and furious.  You're supposed to repeat back of course, just as fast.  Maybe Major Toms was in that smaller plane.

For example the F-35 cost $2 trillion and was pretty much a failure- better off spending that money on AI, quantum computing, and space imo.

The F-35, like the Bradley, and plenty of other examples, is a very capable weapons system that fills a need the U.S. military has. And it cost way too much to develop it.
The failure was in the procurement process. The system itself is quite capable.

That happened to us at RSW. We're going down, just feet from the ground, and then all of a sudden, we're going up. Very surreal and uneasy feeling.

The truth is that this ATC stuff has been going on for a long time - only now you're going to hear more about it.

This one was pretty major and rare, the small jet pilots apparently didn't understand instructions for hold short of 31 Center.  They also didn't seem clear where they were in the airport, they may have not thought 31C was the next runway they encountered.  The SWA pilot of course did the proper thing and ATC handled it well I think.

I don't think this was ATC's fault in any way, nor that of Ground.

That probably is true, but in this case, I don't think it was a factor at all.

I never saw a "post mortem" by the NTSB on the helo collision in DC.  I still have a serious question about the media reports of the helo flight path.

FAA has 45,000 employees. The new administration fired under 400 employees- all of which were probationary (meaning they've been there less than a year) and none were air traffic controllers.

you have a couple things going on- FAA is running outdated and obsolete technology- it is in desperate need of modernization- that is the major problem #1. problem #2- insane DEI policies- which no one wants to admit....that Delta crash in Canada (hilarious how they were trying to blame that one FAA)....the pilot was a woman who had just gotten her license to fly that class of jet couple months prior- and she was working for a Delta subsidiary called Endeveaor Air which apparently is 100% DEI staffed and only hires women and people of color! Yeah so there's a reason why it's really hard to become a pilot and why companies like Delta, United, and every other major airline in US history used to try to recruit and hire only highly trained former military pilots....apparently they'll hire anyone these days.

Fly DEI....you just might DIE.
