first of all Tesla does not get any handouts. The $7,500 EV tax credits were
extended by the Biden administration for all auto manufacturers to try and generate more EV sales in the US. Ya know, their whole "green new deal" bullshit. It is not a hand out directly to Tesla- it's a handout to the entire auto industry- and it actually
hurts Tesla. I'm all for the US gov't getting rid of the EV subsidies- so long as they get rid of the gas subsidies as well. FYI those subsidies are FAR greater than any EV subsidies.
And that $400 million contract (which is a pittance in a $7 trillion budget) for armored EV's for the State Department was awarded to Tesla by....you guessed it....
the Biden administration....as again it was part of that administration mandating all State Department vehicles be zero emission by 2032- part of it's whole "green new deal" bullshit. Tesla was the only bidder and if you think about it for even half a second you'd realize they were the only EV company in the US who could've realistically completed the contract anywhere near said price- which is probably why they were the only ones who bid on it. All moot point anyway- as Trump is decidedly not a complete fucking brain dead retard like his predecessor- and has canceled the contract. The few contracts Tesla has with the federal government are peanuts- you're talking around $4 to 5 million IN TOTAL. And again, awarded to Tesla by....the Biden administration...and again, not exactly like there are a ton of companies offering what he is selling for the government to buy- so when the government wants solar power walls or EV's...well they are probably going to go to the low cost provider leader in the field- which hint: Tesla is.
Complaining about Elon's SpaceX contracts is well, pretty retarded. Elon's SpaceX contracts are not handouts. They are contracts awarded to perform very important, crucial, and sensitive work
that very few companies on planet earth- let alone in the US can actually- you know- do. SpaceX designs & builds for NASA, launches satellites for NASA, and runs payloads to and from the ISS. SpaceX also launches military satellites for DoD- and Musk and that company alone have slashed the costs of launching payloads into low earth orbit by something like 95%. SpaceX is arguably the single most successful contractor the DoD & NASA have. If his SpaceX contracts were scrapped this country would be literally FUCKED. Boeing can't even build a safe airplane on budget or on time....LULZ. Every other major defense contractor does nothing but literally steal money. Say HI to the F-35 for me while you're bitching about Elon's SpaceX contracts- which are a pittance compared to the Northrop Grumman's, Boeing's, General Dynamics', Lockheed Martin's, and Raytheon's of the world- those guys are actual defense contractors and they pretty much have been ripping off the US taxpayer for oh the last 60-70 years.
