Would like to see the documentation on the 150 year old before it’s all said and done.
Oh they're legit.  And they all vote in Chicago.

Two questions come to mind.

1. If there is nothing to hide, why are so many people trying to block access (through the courts, no less)?

2. Shouldn't we all want a streamlined, efficient, non-corrupt government?

Seems logical to me.  We all complain about the corruption in the government and how we can't trust our elected officials who are responsible for oversight of these vast, bloated departments.

1. Define “block access”

2. I would like a non-corrupt government. I’ve a sense this current crew might not be so inclined there.

Here's where I fall on all this.  I think like 90% of us on this board all agree that one of the biggest problem, if not the biggest problem America faces is our out of control debt and deficit.  We've had long threads on the subject, endless debates, many solutions, suggestions, and remedy's.  In all the political debates, whether it's president, congress, or senate, they spend countless hours debating LBGTQ+XYZTUVLMOP, banning library books, what to name military forts that have been around for 100 years, whether to give reparations to people whose ancestors were wronged 150 years ago, whether we need to keep DST, and endless other bullshit.  Sometimes they talk about fixing healthcare or homelessness.

But they almost NEVER discuss what to do about the deficit, and almost always blame the other party.  Democrats cry and holler when Republicans are in charge and adding to the debt, then turn around and do almost the exact same thing when they're running the show.

Nobody, to my knowledge truly gives a flyin' fuck about what I consider to be the biggest and most solvable problem we have.  I'm not even sure Trump really discussed it much when he was running, it seemed more like Elon has been the one banging the drum.  I honestly think that Trump doesn't even GAF about the debt and deficit, but since Elon helped get him elected he's pretty much obliging him with this DOGE effort, and then it also helps solve a problem that Trump has with some of the programs funding a lot of what he's trying to fix with immigration and the like.

I’m honestly not concerned one little bit about them shutting down or scaling back any of the government departments. Dept of Education, or any other.
I'm a little concerned.  But, my little concern is heavily outweighed by the hope that even if mistakes and errors and abuses are made, the long term good will be greater than the bad.

This is Ed Zachery the type of swamp stirring and waste elimination that many hopeful politicians have promised during campaigns for the past 200 years.

This is what Trump promised 12 years ago.  I was disappointed then, that he didn't do more to upset the status quo in the federal government.

That “access” isn’t about seeing something that could be hidden. It’s about being able to tinker with it.

To the second part, I suppose because giving someone with that many government related business entanglements who seems to have impulse control issues and little regard for rules wide control of government finances creates great opportunities for corruption. And frankly, Elon seems like a fella who would have no qualms with doing that sort of thing.

Shoot, a ton of this isn’t particularly legal, but we might just get to a point where no one wants to enforce the law.

Looking at a world map, it would makes sense for that body of water to be called the Gulf of the Americas.  But something like that would have to be grass-roots and just happen, not by putting it on maps in conservative areas of the US.  That's obviously stupid.

But disband the Dept of Education, and each adjacent state will come up with their own name.
Gulf of Elvis?
Gulf of 10 Gallon Hats
Gulf of Disney King
Gulf of Saban

Gulf of Crawfish.  As it always should have been.

I felt the same. In his defense, I don't think he had any clue as to what he was stepping into.

What's strange to me is how they don't even want light shed on this stuff.  What money is going where, what it's for.  If anything, they should WANT it to be out in the open, just to prove that they are spending the money wisely.  Instead, from the reports that I'm seeing (in my acknowledged bubble), they are trying to to keep it obscured, still sending money to causes that Trump (the elected CEO of the country) has explicitly forbidden.

Now we see these reports about Trump being a Nazi (and now LOL Elon) and lots of counter news, but honestly I hold so little regard for not only the news media but also the "owners" of the Democratic party that I really pay them almost no mind.  You might think that being from Texas I'm some kind of hardcore MAGA Republican, but I assure you that's not the case.  I really consider myself an independent that more closely identifies with republican agenda than anything else.

After the shitshow that was the whole Biden/Kamala switcherro I have zero faith in the democratic party and the "owners" of the democratic party to do what's best for the country.  It's blatantly obvious (to me in my acknowledged bubble) that the leadership of this country not only failed to control illegal immigration at the border, they probably encouraged it and aided it.  They covered up Biden's declining cognitive abilities ( which fooled almost nobody), shoved their DEI candidate into office at the 11th hour, and countless other things that weaken the democratic party to many Americans.
