I think it interesting to ponder why the two major party candidates are, in my view, not very good, consistently.  Many end up voting against rather than for.  I gave up and just vote write in, or don't vote.  Just give me someone halfway decent who can string together something that isn't nonsense off the cuff with reasonable political views.

I'd vote for sfbadger gladly, or his wife, even if we differ a bit on some policies (probably not many).  Integrity, ability to speak and lead, veteran, sensible, ... I'd probably vote for most posters here.

the slogan is many times about changing what we have currently, because it's not good enough
or because the political status quo is bad

I've concluded our form of democracy is broken, and unfixable.  I suspect all forms are broken at some point.

I do worry about the inevitable party schism between the coastal craft beer elites and the "every man" flyover beer drinkers.

It's possible this is correct, but very unconfirmed and subject to rumor.

Trans pilot Jo Ellis rumored to be Black Hawk pilot in fatal collision over Potomac River
Not for nothing, but it turned out this was untrue, and frankly the source was a pretty poor one.

I've concluded our form of democracy is broken, and unfixable.  I suspect all forms are broken at some point.
So then what has happened over the last 230-240 years that got us to this point?  What's different about America today than say, 20-30 or even 50 years ago?  Back in the 1960's they were literally killing people who they didn't like politically.  RFK, JFK, MLK, the list is long.

I mean, we're not actively in a civil war, at least not a bloody one.  Sure, there are people on both side of the aisle who would glady start killing the other side in the name of their favorite cause.

The only real way I think America is broken is that there is no plan to reign in the federal debt and deficit.  At least there has not been any kind of plan in a long time.
