Stop allowing medical facilities to charge absurd prices for certain things would be a great start. In my hospital stay, was tough to see my billing and each Tylenol pill was $12 when I could go down to Costco and get 400 of them for $19.  Maybe i'm missing something, but I don't understand the basic economic reality of that.
Those are so interesting, mainly because you have to opt out of certain parts of capitalism and start building all sorts of extra structures to create efficiencies.

And the fact that some of that is needed for making the numbers work, but there’s also too much of it.

And all the insurance negotiation price setting and such.

I think free market economics start failing when the product is a thing we critically may need, don't really want, and can't pay for normally.

"If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free."

I went and saw Conclave last night. It was pretty pulpy and the very end is kind of schlocky and probably going to offend some Catholics.

But overall, a good time at the movies.

Haven't seen it, but I was very surprised by the PG rating, based on the vibe from the commericals.

Granted, someone green lit a $200 million movie about saving Santa, rated PG13, so who knows

There isn’t really anything super over the line. Like it’s not for children, but there’s no sex, not much
violence (there’s one exposition and discussion of terroriesm), not much cussin.

It’s kinda a chamber drama.

I would add to that some kind of reduction in the Federal workforce, he may try and eliminate some cabinet departments.

And of course, he wants to usurp total control of government and eliminate Democrats in Congress and SCOTUS ...

I just hope he understands what falls within the realms of responsibility for some cabinet departments this time around....

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders issued a scathing statement on what he called the Democratic Party's "disastrous" campaign after Vice President Kamala Harris lost the presidential election to former President Donald Trump.

The independent, who caucuses with Democrats, said it "should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them."

"First, it was the white working class, and now it is Latino and Black workers as well," Sanders continued in his statement. "While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they're right."

I said after 2012 that I didn't think we'd see another Republican president until the party abandoned their losing social issues re: abortion and gay marriage, and flipped to more of a libertarian take.  They didn't, but instead the Dems decided to go even farther to the left on social issues, and find themselves where they are now, which has them losing elections, and losing ground on what had been settled social issues.

And to expand, he now has a chance to usher in a new era.  Codify what the voters want, reasonable abortion rights, gay marriage, small business protections, and real immigration laws, while fighting against the leftist pushes that lost them the election.

I think this "mandate" has a chance for bipartisan support, if you play it right.  If you immediately move towards a federal abortion ban, this toxicity is only going to grow

... I don't that's how that's gonna go.

(I'm skeptical on some of those other things as well, outside the immigration stuff)

Oh it's going to go poorly, and we will be right back where we are, because neither party is capable of listening to the constituency at large.  I'm just saying he has a chance to do so.  I knew Harris couldn't, but Trump was smart enough to reject putting a national abortion ban on the platform, because it's a losing platform.  But the vocal minority, and conservative judiciary will go against the will of the people, and we will be right back here in 4 years, because neither side is capable of recognizing issues that the people have already decided

Nobody either remembers this or wants to acknowledge this.  (My log cabin (R) friend reminds me of this all the time)  Trump was the first Presidential candidate to be pro-Gay marriage, not Clinton, not W, not Gore, not Romney, not McCain, not Obama, not Hillary,  it was Trump (he notes, the only major ticket member that was Pro-Gay marriage prior to that was Dick Cheney).     'Obama evolved'
