We had a friend over for dinner Monday night, he's French, lives there. His perspective on our election based on (I gather) French reportage was interesting. He's obviously hoping Trump loses, he claimed Trump wouldn't be "in charge" anyway, his underlings were the real problem.
I piped up saying I didn't think Harris would be "in charge" either, and he launced into a long opinion about how she is really gifted and intelligent and would get along with global leaders who would respect her etc. etc. etc. I just said "That isn't my take on her.".
My wife gets French news hourly on her classical music station and said they were saying Trump had a large lead, which I mentioned is not what the polls here are showing.
I have in the past read, with some help, some articles in Le Monde etc., and they write things we simply don't hear here at all, kind of weird takes on US politics.
