Because every single metric has improved the last 6 months, year, and 18 months.  
But half the talking heads tell them nothing has improved.

One of the critical economic metrics in my view is real HH income.  I THINK that is the one that has a lot of folks stressed.  The "Talking Heads" can say whatever, but if folks don't feel they are making any progress they won't care.  I monitor business news pretty closely and I can't recall some TH saying anything about the economy that isn't based on something factual,  half have NOT been saying the economy is awful.  Many do point to areas of concern, which nearly always are extant.

Middle class and lower have taken a big hit the last few years with wages well behind inflation.  Don't see them going out and spending much any time soon.

I don't know about that. What I know is I'm not spending like I did in the past, and I know I'm not alone.

Well unemployment is up and climbing quickly. 

Credit card and other consumer credit lates and chargeoffs are way up and climbing 

Business loan credit issues are up and climbing 


These things are long cycle to correct or improve.

Lennar and DR Horton put some of our subdivision work on hold. Residential is not going well at the present.
