Flip side, junior year I had a class in the building across the street from the football practice field.  And during practice to get them ready one day, the marching band played hail to the victors over and over for like 45 straight minutes.  I may have even still been a UM fan back then, but you can't listen to any marching band play any fight song for 45 straight minutes without wanting to blow your brains out
My HS mascot was the Tigers. So you can imagine that at every pep rally, school function, football game, etc I was treated to the song Eye of the Tiger.

I effing HATE that song now.

We live a bit less than a mile from the high school our kids go to.  Every mid-July when summer band begins, I can hear the drums clearly, and sometimes the brass.  It always gets me pumped to think that football is just around the corner.

And I also attend a ton of high school football games now, since my kids are in the marching band.  I'd forgotten just how fun and (relatively) pure the sport still is, at that level.

Mine was as well, but that song didn't exist then, fortunately.  We had pep rallies, but not for baseball, just basketball and football.  I'd sit on the edge of the stage with my team and, well, get pepped up, I guess.  The coach would say "stuff".  The pep band would play something, badly, students would cheer.

We only won one championship, a region al one in baseball when I was in tenth grade on any team on which I was a member.

My HS mascot was the Trojans.  So, you can just imagine what teenage kids did with that...

A good friend is the WR coach with the HS in the district in which I now live. They run a veer offense, which means his coaching is almost all blocking.

They won the 6A title (biggest high schools in MN) last year when they stuffed a go-ahead 2-point conversion attempt with ~12 second left. Good times.

It's fascinating, to me, that Harris has gone from being a mostly disliked afterthought to being hailed as a savior now, in a few short weeks, on the left and middle.  It's the sharpest turnaround I can recall for a politician in terms of approval numbers.

Were I her advisers, I'd keep her far away from any tough interviews or debates.
PROP-A-GANDA works.

I just think it's hilarious that she still hasn't actually went into any detail on policy nor done a single unscripted long form interview, podcast appearance, press conference. It's like she/her and she/her advisors are scared of something.....weird.

Not to mention she was just installed as the candidate by the party elite without ever securing a single vote or at the very least having an open convention. Just installed to her position by the DNC politburo. #savingdemocracy.

Yes.

I ref basketball in the winter, umpire fastpitch softball in the spring/summer, and judge speech during shoulder season.

I don't do football in the fall. I'm gone enough Friday nights during the winter, plus there is too much other stuff going on in my life in the fall. But if I ever wanted to get in, it wouldn't take long.

I see "propaganda" on social media of course fairly often.  Sometimes I glance at it, and nearly always think, "That won't play at all with the other side, and I don't think it will play for the undecided voters either, so it's a waste of energy."  The side that likes it, likes it of course, so maybe it aids turnout.  I think a lot of "undecided voters" end up not voting at all, or deciding at the last second based on, well, gravity waves, or write in some name.

Does any of this propaganda and billions in ads impact them?  Maybe a few of them, maybe.  A lot of it is, to me, poorly done and of course inaccurate anyway.  Maybe I miss the "point".  I'm personally undecided, and none of it has any impact on me, other than providing some amusement.

Are you saying Republicans are a near lock to regain control?  I think they are favored, but I think it could be close, depending.

Here's a nice scenario, for me anyway, the EC ends up tied at 269.  The House elects Harris President, the Senate elects Vance Vice President, the Senate ends up 50-50, and the House ends up with a one vote Dem majority.

Or something like that.  It would be fun.

one of the reasons I still officiate high school football after all these years.  It is still played mostly for the joy of the game.  I no longer officiate wrestling it took just too much time.
