Actually that was the best thing about Europe. In non touristy areas people would look at me like I had two heads if I left a tip. That and cheap wine with dinner.

30 percent is my standard tip if the service is stellar. People around here are mostly genuinely happy and nice, so it's mostly always 30 percent and sometimes even more.

It’s kinda written to be that way, it feels like. 

Aside from political fear mongering it does open an interesting question of what exactly does an efficient and highly functional health care economy look like? Like, how do we build a market structure that creates efficiencies without too many externalities we find distasteful? 

It’s a big and knotty question, for sure.
