I don’t think he was particularly expert. So he wasn’t either all that spicy or insightful.

The PC experiment is interesting in retrospect. I would like the current staff to make that change  look better soon.

PC just got tired. Some lazy coaching hires, no recruiting department for a year, some bad recruiting misses.

And it all would’ve basically been fine if he could’ve just gotten Graham Mertz to play at a Jack Coan level

do you blame him?

coaching in college f*cking SUCKS now. year round recruiting and kissing the ass of snot nosed 16-17 year old kids begging them to come to your school. now you have to try to help fundraise money for NIL collectives to keep the players you do have and recruit them year round all over again not to leave your school. and then you have to recruit guys in the portal to come over to fill holes.

it's an absolute cluster f*ck of a mess. I'd much rather be an NFL position coach or co-ordinator than a college head coach. Unlike college which is literally year round now, you actually get breaks and can go on vacations in the NFL. Because: all you have to do is....actually.....shockingly....coach football.

college football sucks now.

Had he kept Coan, Coan wouldn't have beaten UW playing for Notre Dame. Coan would have beaten ND playing for UW. In fact, they may have gone unbeaten!

And I'm with MDot. I wouldn't want any part of being a college coach today.

I'd take the job in an instant.  I wouldn't be any good at it, but before I got fired, I'd make bank.

the salaries are cushy. for sure. 

but if I was a football coach and I was offered an NFL co-ordinator job or a P5 head coaching job....I'm taking the NFL job. Especially now that the big-time co-ordinators are making $3-4+ mil per year in the NFL.

This.

It's not like the options are college football, or working in the mines.  If you can get a big time college football head coaching job, you can take just about any other football job you want.

Hell, take that one time payday, and go work a cushy booth job.  You telling me ESPN wouldn't pay Harbaugh decent money to be on Gameday?  NBC will probably have their own campus show soon enough.  Maybe CBS too?

I think when he has a roster he likes, and has to spend his whole offseason re-recruiting them, and managing the NIL fund, he might change his tune.

Granted, Carolina has the worst ownership to work for in the NFL, so he had the about the worst possible NFL situation.  Did he even get to draft a QB during his time there?
