He's not conservative media.  He's conspiracy nutjob media.

It's no different than calling Hamas a "leftist organization" with respect to US politics.

If this is where you're coming from, then there's no point in attempting to discuss this rationally with you.
There is no point in discussing it rationally because clearly you aren't being rational. Certainly, Alex Jones peddles utter nonsense. He also peddles constant support for Donald Trump and other random conservative stuff like Project 2025. He also has a very large audience. To say he doesn't count as conservative because he is too wacky is to basically give up the argument in the first place.

My point is that conservative media is held to almost no standard at all and the response is the conservatives people listen to don't count.

Twitter banned the NY Post for it story on Hunter's laptop. The MSM completely suppressed it.

I have yet to hear any apologies for that.

I do think there is somewhat of a put upon/victim pathology to all this that makes it harder to untangle.

If you believe basically every CFB fanbase, ESPN is out to get them. And at a certain point, it might just be that more than anything else, we're wired to interpret coverage and discussion of these divisive and contentious issues as giving our side the short end of the stick.

(There's some psychology someone was telling me about that backs that. We're wired for survival instincts. So things that raise our emotions tend to stick. So the things that cause anger and indignation pop out more and stick with us)

Eh, maybe.  I guess I find myself angry about it because I think both YOUR side, and THEIR side, are completely full of shit. :)

Sir, we are not talking about Aggies and Longhorns here. Though we probably should be.

CBS and Dan Rather DID lie about George W. Bush in an attempt to help defeat him.  The pre-internet MSM was heavily left-biased.  The blame lies there.
Compare that effort and Donald Trump's effort to declare that Obama wasn't born in America. What is one to conclude about different audiences and how they hold liars to account?

To be fair, though, I think one of the big problems that we've seen with "conservative media" (largely talk radio / Fox News) is that their schtick is that everyone's lying to you and that you shouldn't believe the lyin' MSM. You can only believe them.
This is an important point, I think, and I think it's largely a conservative "Talking Point", or at least I hear it from conservatives for the most part.  This gives rise to "Alex Jones" and "Qanon" and a bunch of rather weird outlets like "Revolver News", and there was Rush Limbaugh back when as well.

I quoted a stock price yesterday to a lady who claimed Netflix stock had crashed because folks were boycotting, but I cited CNBC and she immediately claimed that was a liberal outlet full of lies and nothing in it it true (NBC).  When a person gets to believing that stock prices and baseball scores and weather reports from "X" are not to be believed because "X" is liberal and EVERYTHING they say is a lie, well, we're kind of done.  I get a daily fill of this on the alternative channel here.

The stock price thing has become a great fountain of content. Some company gets in the news, the price dips, people get to write that their stance cost them X amount of money. People forget and it quietly normalizes much of the time.

The Netflix thing is a bit funny to me.

She first posted that Netflix gave Harris $7 million.  I just noted it wasn't the company, but one of the founders.  She said she was dropping NF in protest, OK, fine, then posted that their cumulative boycott had cratered the stock price (in a meme).  That's when I said "Not really." and cited CNBC.  She thinks I'm a raving liberal now.

As noted, when a person thinks everything on the NY Times is a lie, it's a lost cause.  MOST of the stuff on Fox News is accurate, it may leave out something important, but a figure is going to be accurate.

I have some liberals on FB who think the NY Times needs to be replaced because it called for Biden to step down, they think it's too conservative.

Yeah I know a couple of people that think the NY Times is too conservative as well for similar reasons.  It takes all kinds, I suppose.

This is a summary, more or less, of what DJT had to say about Obama's birth.  It's opinions, and asking questions mostly.  I thought they were ignorant, but he was a private citizen.

1. “Why doesn’t he show his birth certificate? There’s something on that birth certificate that he doesn’t like.”
- March 23, 2011, on “The View”
2. “He’s spent millions of dollars trying to get away from this issue. Millions of dollars in legal fees trying to get away from this issue. And I’ll tell you what, I brought it up, just routinely, and all of a sudden a lot facts are emerging and I’m starting to wonder myself whether or not he was born in this country.”
- March 28, 2011, on Fox News
3. “He doesn’t have a birth certificate, or if he does, there’s something on that certificate that is very bad for him. Now, somebody told me – and I have no idea if this is bad for him or not, but perhaps it would be – that where it says ‘religion,’ it might have ‘Muslim.’ And if you’re a Muslim, you don’t change your religion, by the way.”
- March 30, 2011, on The Laura Ingraham Show
4. “I have people that have been studying [Obama’s birth certificate] and they cannot believe what they’re finding … I would like to have him show his birth certificate, and can I be honest with you, I hope he can. Because if he can’t, if he can’t, if he wasn’t born in this country, which is a real possibility … then he has pulled one of the great cons in the history of politics.”
- April 7, 2011, on NBC’s “Today” show
5. “His grandmother in Kenya said, ‘Oh, no, he was born in Kenya and I was there and I witnessed the birth.’ She’s on tape. I think that tape’s going to be produced fairly soon. Somebody is coming out with a book in two weeks, it will be very interesting.”

I mean obviously there were different results for Trump and Rather after their frauds were uncovered.

When a major news person (ostensbly) falsifies information, it's rather more significant than when some private citizen makes some claims.  We're discussing the media, not what some real estate "mogul" said about something.

As for holding Trump to account, I'm not sure how that could be done.  He's allowed to say those things.  "WE" are allowed to ignore him.  Or not.
