We had some religion when I was in early grades, now I don't recall what exactly, but there was a time, maybe 1964 or so, when certain items were removed from the display.  Nobody paid any attention to whatever it was, maybe they had the 10 C above the chalk board.  Maybe the Christian flag was displayed in assembly?

We did pray the Lord's Prayer before basketball games, I recall that distinctly.  Our coach led it, nobody much seemed to care.

I was raised a Southern Baptist and they were hard core in support of separation of C&S.

A swastika or rebel flag seem to stir up some people

Symbols of something.
Means different things to different people.

Like the stars and stripes

Can't we all just be a little more tolerant of others?

I don't want a government entity displaying controversial flags other than their own.

If an individual does it, I'm free to form a preliminary opinion about them of course, and likely will avoid them.

It's like a few folks around here wearing Georgia Tech hats, I avoid'em.

That is why the State of Minnesota designed a new flag this past winter.

From this:

To this:

I'm not thrilled with the new one (the new sealsare much better), but it's a damn sight better than the old one.

Was driving the Jeep home from my office today, and had it going "random" through my MP3 playlist on my USB flash drive.

Cheeseburger in Paradise came on. Made me think.. "Why do no vegans/vegetarians sing songs about their food?" Oh yeah, because they don't eat cheeseburgers.

In other news, we attended a concert last night that included a piano concerto.  They announced they had just obtained a new piano due to an anonymous donor (not me).

I was musing during the concerto that it sounded really good, warmer somehow, I had forgotten it was new.  My wife remarked how much better it sounded.  I had not thought a piano would really sound different to my ears.  (The pianist was Trif\oinov, who apparently is quite good.)  So, I look up how much a new one costs.

Any guesses?

$200 K.  And up.
