any kind of violent crime will cost you the ability to gain concealed carry permit here in NC... domestic a big one... history of mental health issues... history of and certainly current psych drugs... history or drinking or drug problems...
it's based on Sheriffs interpretation... some of which will keep a former serviceman who 'may' be suffering from undiagnosed PTSD to others who straight up say PTSD meets the psych concern threshold, and others who don't include it at all. it comes down to the sheriff you signs each and every one of them in this state, or who appoints someone to do so- their discretion...
and then there is the 2A which rightfully points out that is a restriction which was expressly ensured no matter what.
and then there is interpretation up to whoever is reading the law or ordinance...
then there are lawyers who tell you what the law really means, and how they plan on enforcing or exploiting it via some loophole.
meanwhile, and statistically speaking, very few guns are used in violent crimes as compared to the number of guns in circulation... however, a gun that is used in a violent crime stands a much and i mean MUCH better chance of being used in a crime again... sorta like, oh- i don't know- people.... at the risk of making up a statistic on the spot, i've read where violent crime is done by a small percentage of the population, and it usually is or will be repeat offenders... meaning most people are good or at least respectful of each other, while a much smaller percentage aren't- and are responsible for something like 95% of the violent crimes... over and over.
