Mdot, you would do well to stop listening to whatever Kremlin propaganda mill that you're getting your talking points from.
Vlad's 2022 invasion of Ukraine was proof that if you appease a bully, he's going to keep coming. And it's funny you reference the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Both were and are gigantic strategic blunders. For the Japanese, it got the Americans fully and unequivocally into World War II with a huge rallying point instead of keeping them out of the war for as long as possible. For Vlad, he thought the Russian army was going to roll into Kyiv in three days and install a Kremlin stooge. I guarantee he thought the entire populace of Kyiv would greet the Russian army with cheers and kisses, not Molotov cocktails.
Even if a negotiation involves not voluntarily giving up Crimea, the Russian army looks utterly unable to hold it, or it's water supply. I've been in homeless encampments that were in better condition than what passes for Russian army barracks.
