I wouldn't say it's inherently better in Europe, it's just that in the US we have so many chain restaurants in comparison that get most of the business. One can find pretty good dining here by avoiding chains, and one advantage we have here is diversity, I didn't find many "Mexican" and "Asian" restaurants in France, a few, but not like here.
We have a couple Indian places near us that are excellent. (England of course has them.)
In France, it's pretty much French food all the time. Ha.
We just had a Persian place open up the street that is supposed to be good, it's their fifth location I think. Gonna try it.
