In American style, the period always comes before the closing quotation marks. In the British style, the placement of the period depends upon whether the period is logically part of the quoted material.
Explanation:
The American style was developed based on typography. When setting up type, requiring the period to precede the quotation marks allowed better kerning.
The advantage of the American style is that it provided an invariant (although not always logical) rule.
In the British style, the period is placed inside the quotation marks if it is logically belongs there. It is place after the quotation marks if it is not logically part of the quoted material.

Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles was at the National Corvette Museum’s 27th Anniversary Celebration last week and part of his seminar was the discussion of the 2021 model year statistics. Chevrolet says they are building a total of 26,216 Corvettes for the 2021 model year which should wrap up later this week.

According to the final 2021 Corvette model year statistics, 42% of Corvette buyers chose the convertible model vs 58% who opted for the Coupe which allows you to see the LT2 under its rear glass. In terms of raw numbers, that’s approximately 11,010 convertibles vs 15,206 coupes.

Harlan said he wasn’t really surprised by the success of the hardtop convertible C8 Corvette, and he believes that we could actually see that number growing even higher in the future.

The Convertible model adds an additional $7,500 to the price of the car, and the 2021 Corvette stats revealed that convertible buyers are more likely to spring for the 3LT trim package by 52% vs 40% who choose the 2LT package and 8% who selected the base model. By contrast, the majority of buyers for the Coupe outfitted their cars with the 2LT package by 47% vs 33% for the 3LT and 20% who selected the base 1LT model.



Buyers can also choose how to customize the convertible models. The Carbon Flash Roof/Nacelles option (D84) represents 35% of all Convertibles while the Carbon Flash Nacelles-only option (D86) accounts for just 9% of orders. That leaves a majority of 2021 Convertibles (56%) being ordered in body color without the enhancements.

Corvette has seen a resurgent in convertible sales with the introduction of the hardtop convertible model as sales numbers haven’t been this good since 1969 when 43% of buyers choose the 1969 Stingray Convertible.

I'm not really following the rest of this.  As for parties, yeah, we're allowed 3 of those for the year, and they're basically the last  hour of the day. 
School isn't like it used to be.  No nap time in kindergarten.  Testing testing testing.

Seems to me that when the question comes up over who should be burdened, parents are always first on the list. Because it's not like most parents can do anything about it.

This is probably half true. As OAM said, you could probably put the work into making it happen. It would take a bunch of time and probably cost you and the other parents (and local non-parents) money in the long term. 

This issue, of course, is that parents as a group are probably getting the most out of the arrangement. Like a relatively ridiculous amount of value. Which of course means sort of bad position when it comes to not catching extra responsibility. 

(This has me thinking about a podcasts I listened to, where a dad came into a school with an idea and sort of flexed his ability as a professional fundraiser, which made him a certain kind of valuable. Interesting story about school dynamics and race in NY)

Musing about getting fired for being truthful ...

A long time ago, the VP of the patent division called me into a meeting with him.  I had no idea why I was there, the other parties were directors and VPs talking about their Big Project.  They ambled on for a while talking about how great it was and finally Ken, the patent VP (nice guy) asked about their IP (patent protection etc.).  The VP, a lady I knew a bit, said they had it all wrapped up, great protection, patents filed, etc.

Now, I was the IP Manager for that project, so I KNEW they had zip, not a single patent app filed, not even an invention I could discern.  So, Ken turns to me and asked "CD, are you aware of any patent applications filed?".

I responded "No.".  There was this pregnant silence.  And the other VP ambled on about trademarks.  Yay.  That was the only word I spoke in a one hour meeting.  I was transferred off shortly thereafter, not fired at least.

It was a dumb project and after years of molar gnashing finally was killed, I think they  got to test market.
