That's got to feel like pee.
Actually, it does not. The heat index readings about now are 95-105. So, 90 feels pretty good. So does getting out.

The other thing, to me anyway, is how much you are saving.  Oil changes are so cheap that by the time you back out the cost of the oil and filter to do it yourself you are really only saving maybe $15 to do it yourself.  OTOH, changing your own brakes saves a LOT.

Another example that just REALLY ticked me off:
My daughter was born 9/17 and it was a scheduled C-section.  Ie, I knew in advance that it was going to happen on 9/17.  So I get a call from the wife on 9/16 that we have no hot water.  I checked the price for a hot water heater for our house and it was ~$1,250 to replace what we had (50 Gal high efficiency gas).  I called a plumber and they wanted $2,500 to do the job.  I had to pay it because I was having a daughter the next day but it REALLY ticked me off.

I've been changing hot water heaters for 40 years (first helping, then leading, then doing it myself) and even though I don't do it often, it is MAYBE a 3-4 hour job.  Good god, the plumber charged $400/hour!
Dag, I just had this done yesterday, and the plumber only charged $1500. Only took him about two hours though.

I've mentioned before my kids both got "soft" degrees and both are doing very well now.  Some of this comes down to gumption and effort.

There often is unusual "good fortune", and bad, in our lives.  A tipped pass falls into the WRs hands, or is picked off, seemingly by chance.

I'm obviously biased, but I think my kids worked pretty hard to put themselves into a position of benefitting from some of the good.  My lawyer kid in Texas had his final interview for General Counsel at Whole Foods, which he would really like as a job.

Yep, that's garbage 'journalism,' obviously.
