HB, your attitude seems to rely on people alive now having some sort of behavioral connection of their ancestors.
When slavery is taught, it's that white people (mostly) bought and sold black people (mostly) and that it was wrong. It was common place back then, but it was obviously wrong. We should avoid doing wrong things moving forward (as we have, largely) since slavery ended.
.
It has nothing to do with anyone alive today, aside from all people should avoid doing the wrong thing.
Same as teaching that ancient Greeks believed a god rode the sun across the sky. That was incorrect. Here is what IS correct.
Same as teaching standards that being in kindergarten and continue up to middle school, adding in content, context, and usage. Teach that there are seasons, teach the traits of each season, how people dress differently in each season, moving on to why there are seasons, that seasons are opposite in each hemisphere, etc, and onto how farmers plant in a certain season and harvest in another, how battles in the past often paused during winter, etc... and so on.

Sorry, we're not indoctrinating 6 year-olds with white guilt. Go preach crazy elsewhere, please.
