It's blatantly obvious that any wall is a deterrent, even Hadrian's Wall, which in many places was 3 feet high.

They didn't build it for their health.

The wall in Berlin was fairly effective. Over a period of almost 30 years, estimates are that around 5,000 made it through to the west, with over 100,000 attempted crossings.

The wall around the Vatican is pretty effective, even though they wag their finger at others for building a wall.

Humans don't build walls as deterrents without understanding that they are in fact reasonable deterrents.  To claim otherwise is absurd.  To claim they are perfect is almos as absurd.

Folks wondered for a while why Hadrian's Wall was so low.  It was not meant to deter the Scots from coming over, it was to make it difficult for them to take sheep and cattle and horses back with them.  It also was a clear line, and the Scots knew if they were caught on the wrong side, the Romans would kill or enslave them.

Of course.

I guess they didn't have spray paint back then to draw a line instead.

Maybe moats are underutilized.  You know, inverted walls, full of water and sharks and alligators.  Probably much cheaper, too.  Oh wait, the Rio Grande is there.  Nevermind.

You've seen pics of the wall Trump was trying to build.  Would you rather scale that wall or walk across the border w/o any wall?

if the wall only kept the crippled and elderly and infants out is has some effectiveness

perhaps young able bodies can scale the wall, but bus loads can't be driven across

there's a difference

Ask the local border patrol agents if they'd rather  work with the help of a wall or nothing

hell the border patrol can't possibly be 100% effective, but they are still there doing their job

if the hill you're willing to die on is that nothing is 100% effective, than just send out welcome letters and hand out water bottles at the border to encourage as many illegals as possible

but wait, all that encouragement wouldn't be 100% effective, so......... why even try?

This is a classic case of derangement, a stance taken SOLELY because some political figure was for it, so he's against it, despite clear logic and human experiences.

If he doesn't think a wall is a deterrent, fine with me, it says far more about OAM than walls.
